One dead, eight 救助(する)d in Tassie 嵐/襲撃するs

Eight people 立ち往生させるd in blizzard-like 条件s on Tasmania's Mt Wellington have been 救助(する)d.

Two of the walkers are lucky to have 生き残るd the ordea on the 首脳会議 overlooking the 資本/首都 Hobart, police say.

News of the 救助(する) follows the death of a woman struck by a 落ちるing tree in 嵐の 天候 on the 明言する/公表する's northwest coast.

当局 say すぐに after midday on Saturday a group of four walkers became exposed to wild 勝利,勝つd and 豪雪 at the kunanyi 観察 point, also known as the Pinnacle.

The party sought 援助 from two other people in the area and the six took 避難 in a 洗面所 封鎖する until help arrived.

Police, 救急車 and Wellington Park 特別奇襲隊員s trekked through the 嵐/襲撃する to reach the group and walk them to safety.

A 27-year-old woman and 16-year-old girl also became disorientated in the 激しい 条件s on Saturday evening on the Zig Zag 跡をつける, just below the 頂点(に達する), and 接触するd 緊急 services.

Police 跡をつけるd their phones, with officers and paramedics finding the pair 避難所ing behind 激しく揺するs 近づく a snow-covered 跡をつける about 10.30pm.

It is understood 気温s had dropped to around -6C.

The group was 扱う/治療するd at the scene for (危険などに)さらす and 補助装置d 負かす/撃墜する the mountain before 存在 taken to hospital with 冷淡な-関係のある 傷害s and hypothermia.

"All the people 伴う/関わるd started with the best 意向s but 最終的に some were not 用意が出来ている for the extreme and variable 条件s," 上級の Constable Callum Herbert said on Sunday.

"People should 注意する 警告s about walking on the mountain and in alpine areas as both 救助(する)s ... put themselves and their 救助者s at 重要な 危険."

The pair lost on the Zig Zag 跡をつける would almost certainly have 死なせる/死ぬd if not for the tenacity of the 救助者s, Const Herbert said.

"They were very lucky."

More than 100 出来事/事件s of fallen trees 原因(となる)d 多重の road 終結s and 15 car 衝突,墜落s across the 明言する/公表する .

One 運転者 was 負傷させるd and 構造上の 損失 has been 報告(する)/憶測d to some 所有物/資産/財産s.

Tasmania's SES 答える/応じるd to more than 220 calls, its 事実上の/代理 director Leon Smith said.

The 54-year-old woman killed at Beulah late on Saturday afternoon was one of two people 罠にかける under the fallen tree, police said.

Both were 扱う/治療するd at the scene.

A 55-year-old man was taken to Launceston General Hospital with serious but not life-脅すing 傷害s.
