田舎の NSW town 示すs Australia Day 早期に

As the people of Wellington joined in the 国家の 国家, singing of 存在 "one and 解放する/自由な", the Australian and Aboriginal 旗s were raised in unison.

The central west NSW town of 4000 示すd Australia Day on Wednesday evening, moving away from January 26 儀式s for the first time.

Dubbo 地域の 会議 said the change recognised the town's Indigenous 全住民 and 目的(とする)d to 上げる (人が)群がる numbers by 避けるing the hottest part of the day.

About 300 people turned out for the twilight event in 33C heat, watching as a smoking 儀式 moved slowly through the (人が)群がる.

Wiradjuri man Jeffrey Amatto was given a community award for his work and leadership as co-創立者 of 麻薬 and alcohol 中毒 charity Brothers 4 回復.

"I want to thank you for changing the date. You're 主要な the way for so many communities in Australia," Mr Amatto said as he 受託するd his 証明書.

Wellington 地元の Cheryl Ah-See sat on a picnic 一面に覆う/毛布 under the trees at Cameron Park in the centre of town, surrounded by her family.

"If we can be one of the first to 示す 侵略 day on a different date, it's going to make us come together even more."

Pam 井戸/弁護士席s, a Tubba-Gah woman who sits on Dubbo Regiona l 会議, said moving Wellington's events 認めるs that 16 per cent of the 地域's people are Indigenous.

"It's a good first start. We've got a long 旅行 to be able to 株 and 知らせる our country of what January 26 means for First Nations people."

The 連邦の 政府 in late December relaxed 規則s to 許す 儀式s to be held between January 23 and 29.

The Wellington event was planned earlier, 固執するing to 連邦/共和国 指導基準s 免除されたing small 市民権 儀式s from 存在 held on January 26.

Dubbo 市長 Mathew Dickerson said the community has long held Indigenous events on Australia Day, but this year was an 適切な時期 for 統一.

"会議 has the 意向 of making a day to talk about how wonderful it is to be in this nation," Mr Dickerson told AAP ahead of the event.

"Let's 認める the past, and really 焦点(を合わせる) on the 未来."

The 会議 will 捜し出す feedback from Dubbo and Wellington 居住(者)s before planning the dates for next year's 儀式s.

Mr Dickerson said there were "extremes of 見解(をとる)s".

"There are times you need to lead your community 今後."
