In the Kosciuszko 国家の Park, the 概算の 全住民 has 増加するd 30 per cent in two years
That's based on a 調査する published on Friday, showing 18,814 horses in November 2022, compared to 14,380 in late 2020.
IS THAT GOOD?
Not if you're the 政府. It wants to 減ずる 全住民s for 生態学の 推論する/理由s. In 2021, the 政府 committed to getting 負かす/撃墜する to 3000 horses by June 30, 2027 under the Kosciuszko Wild Horse 管理/経営 計画(する).
But the 国家の Parks and 野性生物 Service says with 付加 資源s it is still on 跡をつける to 会合,会う the 削減 的 始める,決める in the 計画(する).
WHAT'S IN THE PLAN?
The 計画(する) identifies the 遺産 value of 維持できる wild horse 全住民s within parts of Kosciuszko 国家の Park. It also 始める,決めるs out how to 減ずる the 全住民, either by culling or rehoming.
Passive trapping and rehoming of wild horses is prioritised where possible, but 専門家s say large 規模 culls are the most 効果的な way of 減ずるing numbers.
HOW'S THAT GOING?
In the first 10 months since the 計画(する) was introduced, 859 horses wild horses were 除去するd from the park.
In the same period, the 全住民 grew by more than 二塁打 that number.
Critics 含むing animal advocacy groups and members of the NSW 国家のs have …に反対するd the culls as cruel and unnecessary.
