同僚s 支払う/賃金 尊敬の印 to 愛国的な late 上院議員 Molan

Jim Molan has been remembered as a 愛国者 and 献身的な 軍人/修理人 by the 首相, 対立 leader and his 議会の 同僚s.

The 自由主義の 上院議員 for NSW and retired army major general died 老年の 72 last month after a 戦う/戦い with 癌.

総理大臣 Anthony Albanese said while those on the left 味方する of politics did not agree with all of 上院議員 Molan's 見解(をとる)s 公然と, in 私的な conversations he was always engaging, warm and funny.

上院議員 Molan served in the army for 40 years with stints in Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, East Timor, Malaysia, Germany, the 部隊d 明言する/公表するs and Iraq.

対立 Leader Peter Dutton said 上院議員 Molan considered himself an ordinary Australian but led an 驚くべき/特命の/臨時の life.

"He was an 楽天主義者 about humanity. That speaks 容積/容量s about the mettle of his character and the 親切 of his heart," he said.

"In all that he did Jim fought hard, decently and 井戸/弁護士席, whether in khaki abroad or wearing a 控訴 on the 上院 床に打ち倒す he uttered his 有罪の判決s with courage."

上院 自由主義の leader Simon Birmingham thanked the former major general for his service to the nation.

"It's (疑いを)晴らす Jim's life had touched and earned the 尊敬(する)・点 of countless individuals," 上院議員 Birmingham said.

"Australia has lost a 愛国者 in the best sense of that word and a 軍人/修理人 who 論証するd an unwavering dedication to the safety and 安全 of our nation.

"He was a man of 原則 who was willing to make sacrifices for his beliefs and 具体的に表現する the best of service to his nation."

外務大臣 Penny Wong 反映するd on her interactions with the late 上院議員, 説 he would often 演説(する)/住所 her in Bahasa Indonesian.

上院議員 Wong, who was born in Malaysia and speaks fluent Bahasa, said he was always 深く,強烈に respectful.

"Jim Molan was a person who placed high importance on personal character and 正直さ, no more so than in his own 行為/行う," she said.

"Selamat pagi bu (good morning, ma'am), he would say. Those who speak any Indonesian would know that is a very respectful manner of 演説(する)/住所.

"He leaves a 遺産/遺物 of professionalism, of dedication and of service."

She also honoured his "深い 有罪の判決s in his lifetime of service".

"Australia 借りがあるs a 負債 of 感謝 to Jim Molan for his 献身的な service to our country in our defence 軍隊, through public 政策 and in our 議会," 上院議員 Wong said.

Mr Molan was elected to the 上院 in 2017 before 存在 敗北・負かすd at the 2019 総選挙, returning months later to fill a casual vacancy.

His health 悪化するd 速く after Christmas and he died on January 16.
