Hookworms may 持つ／拘留する 重要な to 取り組むing type 2 糖尿病
Using live hookworms to 戦闘 糖尿病 may sound like a 事例／患者 of the 治療 存在 worse than the 病気, but 研究員s are 希望に満ちた their small 裁判，公判 will 結局 lead to 麻薬s to help people living with the 条件.
Hookworms remain a problem for millions of people around the world but 熟考する／考慮するs have also 示唆するd that places with a lot of people living with the parasites also have より小数の metabolic 病気s such as type 2 糖尿病.
So scientists at James Cook University used microscopic hookworm larvae to 感染させる 関係者s, and 設立する a small dose was not only 安全な but 改善するd people's glucose metabolism, 減ずるing their level of insulin 抵抗.
Insulin helps 規制する 血 sugar levels, and insulin 抵抗 occurs when 独房s have trouble 答える／応じるing to the hormone and struggle to take glucose from the 血.

The university 新採用するd 40 people who had 危険 factors for developing metabolic 病気s such as heart 病気 and type 2 糖尿病, and exposed them to the human hookworm 種類 Necator americanus or a placebo.
Necator hookworms are 井戸／弁護士席 adapted to humans and 影響する／感情 people across Africa, Asia and the Americas, 原因（となる）ing problems such as anaemia and 栄養不良.
Humans usually 契約 them when larvae burrow through the 肌 after 接触する with 汚染するd dirt.
From there they make their way into the bloodstream, the 肺s and then the gut.
To mimic this, the Queensland 研究員s dripped water 含む／封じ込めるing 20 or 40 larvae on 関係者s' forearms.
