Matildas, 2000 水球 team 勝利，勝つ Don, 夜明け awards
Two ground-breaking moments in Australian sports history have been honoured, with the Matildas and the Sydney 2000 women's 水球 gold medallists winning major awards.
The Sport Australia Hall Of Fame (SAHOF) has 手渡すd the Don award to the Matildas for their 奮起させるing 業績／成果s at this year's home World Cup, where they reached the 半分-決勝戦.
今後 Kyah Simon, who is 近づくing a return to 活動／戦闘 after not featuring in the World Cup because of 傷害, 受託するd the award on the Matildas' に代わって during a 機能（する）／行事 on Friday at the MCG.

"The fact that we weren't able to take a メダル away from the World Cup ... as 競技者s was やめる disappointing for us," Simon said.
"But thinking 支援する and 反映するing on the tournament, we were able to do something much more ーに関して／ーの点でs of 奮起させるing the next 世代s to follow their dreams.
"I'm sure the 未来 Matidas were wearing those colours and in those stands at the games."
The 夜明け award, introduced in 2021, recognises a person or 団体／死体 that has shown courage and changed sport for the better.
The Australian 水球 team 首尾よく ロビーd the International Olympic 委員会 (IOC) in 1997 to 含む a women's 競争 at the Games in Sydney.
While the men had been competing at the Olympics for nearly a century by then, the women had been ロビーing for a place for two １０年間s.
Australia's players famously 迎える／歓迎するd IOC 委任する／代表s at Sydney Airport with a noisy 抗議する in their 競争 swimsuits and then gatecrashed a マスコミ 会議／協議会.

"The team 延長するs way past this group and we recognise that the women who went before us certainly were trailblazers," said gold medallist Simone Fountain.
"We were the lucky ones to be in the 権利 place.
"We certainly stood there for a lot of other people and a lot of other 女性（の）s who went before us, who never got that 適切な時期.
"It was a humbling moment then, probably even more now, because we've committed to keep supporting our sport."
