Hospital 'ignored' 嘆願s for help before girl's death

A mother says her desperate 嘆願s for hospital staff to help her 病んでいる daughter were ignored before the eight-year-old died about 21 hours after 存在 認める to 緊急.

Amrita Varshini Lanka died from lymphocytic myocarditis, inflammation of the heart muscle, at Monash Children's Hospital on April 30, 2022.

When Amrita and her mum were taken to the hospital 区, about 3pm, a nurse showed her the 緊急 call button which she could 圧力(をかける) to get 援助.

Ms Tarapureddi said she 圧力(をかける)d the button about seven times during the 21-hour ordeal, but no one (機の)カム.

"Nobody was 答える/応じるing. They were ignoring me. I don't know the 推論する/理由," she told the Melbourne 検死官s 法廷,裁判所.

She asked a hospital cleaner for help who 確認するd the button was working.

Ms Tarapureddi said she approached the nurse's desk to tell them of her daughter's 苦痛 and the 欠如(する) of 返答 after 圧力(をかける)ing the button.?

"The nurse told me I had to wait because they were having a conversation," she said.

A nurse arrived about 20 minutes later with Nurofen and then left.

Hours later, Am rita began experiencing difficulty breathing to which a doctor told her it was because she hadn't eaten anything.

Outside 法廷,裁判所, Amrita's parents hoped the 検死 would 供給する answers to the "many questions we have about what went wrong ... and how it could have been 妨げるd".
