Vic police boss defends new COS
The Victoria Police 長,指導者 commissioner says a former Labor スタッフの一員 is not in "a Peta Credlin-type 役割" as his 長,指導者 of staff.
Graham Ashton said Superintendent Brett Curran, 任命するd to run Mr Ashton's office last week, was not an 助言者.
Mr Curran was 長,指導者 of staff to Victorian 首相 Daniel Andrews when Labor was in 対立, but left ahead of the 2014 選挙.
Mr Ashton told ABC 無線で通信する on Thursday Mr Curran was in "an 行政の 役割" and would not be able to 影響(力) how the office 扱うd 極度の慎重さを要する 構成要素.
"It's not a Peta Credlin-type 役割, where it's 供給するing this 重要な level of - some sort of advice to me," he said, referring to former 首相 Tony Abbott's 長,指導者 of staff.
"I make the 決定/判定勝ち(する)s in my office and I will continue to do so."
Mr Curran first moved into Victorian politics in 2007 as 長,指導者 of staff to the Victorian 大臣 for police and 緊急 services.
He had 以前 worked as 長,指導者 of staff for former Victoria Police 長,指導者 commissioner Christine Nixon.
After leaving Mr Andrews's office in July 2014, Mr Curran took a 管理/経営 役割 at Victoria Police.
Mr Andrews said Mr Ashton was a person of the "最大の 正直さ" who had spent his working life keeping Victorians 安全な.
"It is wrong to question his 正直さ in any way," Mr Andrews told reporters.
