'Union sold us out' say angry 労働者s

Josephine Hodgson had waited 11 years for her chance to speak about how she lost her 職業 as a mushroom picker to be 取って代わるd by 労働者s from a 労働 雇う company.

"The union sold us out," the 67-year-old said outside the 貿易(する) union 王室の (売買)手数料,委託(する)/委員会/権限 in Sydney.

"We knew that. We've always known that but we didn't think there was anything we could do about it."

The four women who 証言するd on Wednesday had worked at Chiquita for up to 16 years before 直面するing redundancy in 2004.

労働者s at the mushroom farms did not know Chiquita ha d begun making the 支払い(額)s of $4,000 a month to the AWU, labelled "paid education leave", the 法廷,裁判所 has heard.

In 2004, 労働者s at the mushroom farm were shown a new EBA that made 相当な changes - 増加するing the use of 労働 雇う positions and 転換ing their 支払う/賃金 to an hourly 率 that would leave them 収入 いっそう少なく than the 支払う/賃金-by-負わせる 計画/陰謀 used 以前.

The 法廷,裁判所 also heard the company 手配中の,お尋ね者 to make staff redundant and the AWU organiser for Chiquita, Frank Leo, was supportive of the company's position.

Sharon Dellevergini, now 52, worked for 13 years at Chiquita.

She told the (売買)手数料,委託(する)/委員会/権限 on Wednesday that at one 会合 at the farm, Mr Leo told her that "this is what the company needed to do".

"I thought it was やめる 違法な to make us redundant when they were just going to put someone in that position but he seemed to think that this is what they had to do," Ms Dellevergini said.

In a written 声明 to the (売買)手数料,委託(する)/委員会/権限, Ms Dellevergini said she had not heard of the $4000 月毎の 支払い(額)s to the AWU until she read about them in a newspaper this year.

"I was dumbfounded but it made sense to me considering the 欠如(する) of support we received from the AWU during the redundancy 過程," she said.

Ms Hodgson, Ms Dellevergini and their former workmates Marjorie Hodgson and Marion Rogers all joined the AWU when they started work at Chiquita.

On Wednesday, Ms Hodgson said she felt disappointed.< /p>
