医薬 裁判,公判 目的(とする)s to break ice habit
A pill to get methamphetamine (麻薬)常用者s off their habit will be trialled in eastern Australia.
The two-year N-ICE 裁判,公判 in Wollongong, Geelong and Melbourne is 存在 led by the Curtin University 国家の 麻薬 研究 学校/設ける in Western Australia.
The 裁判,公判, which is 基金d by the 連邦の 政府's 国家の Health and 医療の 研究 会議, 目的(とする)s to find out if the 医薬 n-acetyl cysteine, or NAC, can 減ずる ice cravings and help (麻薬)常用者s やめる.
NAC 的s the glutamine changes in the brain that are believed to underpin the 中毒, the 学校/設ける's Rebecca McKetin says.
"NAC helps to 減ずる cravings by 回復するing the balance of 化学製品s in the brain that are 伴う/関わるd in craving and 麻薬-捜し出すing, making it easier for people to manage their 願望(する) for the 麻薬," Associate Professor McKetin said.
Monash, Deakin and La Trobe universities, the University of Wollongong, the University of Newcastle and the Burnet 学校/設ける are also 伴う/関わるd in the 12-week 裁判,公判.
Deakin's Dr Olivia Dean said it was hoped NAC would not only help people stop or 削減(する) 負かす/撃墜する their ice use but would also 減ずる 使用者s' mood swings.
No 医薬 has yet been 認可するd to 扱う/治療する ice 中毒 and University of Wollongong Professor Peter Kelly hoped "NAC can break the 中毒 cycle and help people stop using ice".
