Wurf impresses with 最高の，を越す-10 Kona finish
Very few triathletes passed by Javier Gomez late in the run are able to 決起大会／結集させる and 追いつく the Spanish 星／主役にする.
So Cameron Wurf's 成果／努力 late in the Hawaiian Ironman マラソン showed how much his run has 改善するd in the past 12 months.
The former Olympic rower and プロの／賛成の cyclist finished ninth - the first Australian men's 最高の，を越す-10 finisher at Kona since 2014.
Wurf broke the bike course 記録，記録的な／記録する he 始める，決める last year by three minutes and led 早期に in the マラソン.
He also led last year but faded to 17th.
While he could not 持つ／拘留する off German 支持する／優勝者 Patrick Lange and the other frontrunners, Wurf's finish of eight hours 10 minutes 32 seconds featured a much-改善するd 3:06 マラソン 分裂（する）.
Wurf had mixed feelings about his race - he's impatient to become a 肩書を与える 競争相手 - but agreed that 持つ／拘留するing off Gomez in the Spaniard's Kona debut was a feather in his cap.
"It shows there's something there. It would be nice if it was Lange," he said.
Wurf was pleased to run better this year but was also 失望させるd and 肉体的に 苦しめるd at the finish.
"I guess I did what was 推定する／予想するd of me and I didn't やめる get the result I dreamed of," he said.
"But it was probably the result I deserved - it's just where I'm at.
"It's a world 選手権 - you come to try to 勝利，勝つ."
Wurf did six Ironman-distance triathlons this year - most competitors only race in one or two - as he learns how to run 井戸／弁護士席 on tired 脚s.
"It's simple - I just have to 改善する my running," he said.
"Man, we're 18 months into this ... it takes time, it's not a picnic out there."
Lange passed him easily in the マラソン but also took time to 認める what Wurf has 与える／捧げるd with his strong cycling pedigree.
"He complimented me on what I'd done for the sport," Wurf said.
"It was really admirable of him. He shook my 手渡す as he went past.
"I really 高く評価する／（相場などが）上がる that.
"I also watched him and thought ... I can come 支援する and challenge him or at least get closer. What a 広大な／多数の／重要な 支持する／優勝者."
