The idea was the brainchild of First Nations Gomeroi woman Rachael McPhail, who 嘆願(書)d the 国家の postage service to collate a database of 伝統的な place 指名するs last year.
Australia 地位,任命する's 国家の Indigenous 経営者/支配人 Chris Heelan said the new 一括ing was a simple but meaningful way to 促進する and celebrate Indigenous communities.
"We not only listened to Rachael, but to the 圧倒的な feedback from thousands of Australians who supported this fantastic 概念 to recognise 伝統的な country on their mail," the Noongar man said.
This year's NAIDOC 主題 is "傷をいやす/和解させる Country", calling for stronger 対策 to recognise, 保護する and 持続する Aboriginal and Torres 海峡 Islander culture and 遺産.
Ms McPhail encouraged Australians to 拡大する their knowledge of Indigenous 遺産 and start 含むing 伝統的な place 指名するs when sending letters and 小包s.
"This is about 支払う/賃金ing 尊敬(する)・点 to First Nations people, and their continuing 関係 to country," she said.
"If everyone 可決する・採択するs this small change, it will make a big difference."
In another NAIDOC 祝賀, Australia 地位,任命する is also wrapping a number of its 郵便の boxes on the street in an Indigenous design by Karajarri man Marcus 物陰/風下.
