The number of people 雇うd in Australia 低迷d by 146,000 in August as a result of a number of coronavirus lockdowns across the country, wiping out the 職業s 伸び(る)s seen since April.
However, the Australian Bureau of 統計(学) said the 失業率 緩和するd to 4.5 per cent from 4.6 per cent, when 経済学者s had 推定する/予想するd it to rise to five per cent.
"The 落ちる in the 失業率 反映するs a large 落ちる in 参加 during the 最近の lockdowns, rather than a 強化するing in 労働 market 条件s," ABS 長,率いる of 労働 統計(学) Bjorn Jarvis said.
He said the 最新の data covered the first two weeks of August, which 含むd the continued lockdown in NSW, new lockdowns in Victoria, Queensland and the ACT, and a 一連の changes in 制限s in other parts of the country.
The 参加 率 of those in work or 捜し出すing 雇用 fell from 66 per cent to 65.2 per cent, while hours worked in all 職業s in the month fell by 3.7 per cent, or 66 million hours.
国際決済銀行 Oxford 経済的なs 長,指導者 経済学者 Sarah Hunter said the fallout from the NSW lockdown and the structure of the COVID-19 災害 支払い(額)s has 意味ありげに distorted the 労働 market data.
She said the 失業 落ちる is not an 正確な reflection of the health of the economy.
"With the economy in lockdown, those 労働者s who are 現在/一般に unable to work and not 活発に 捜し出すing a 職業 are 分類するd as not 存在 in the 労働 軍隊," Dr Hunter said.
Also those receiving support 支払い(額)s in NSW, Victoria and the ACT are 現在/一般に not 要求するd to look for a 職業, which has led to a その上の 拒絶する/低下する in the 失業 count.
She 推定する/予想するs the September 人物/姿/数字s will see a その上の step 負かす/撃墜する in 雇用 as it will 含む the 十分な 衝撃 of the Victoria lockdown.
Thursday's data was 調査するd between August 1 and 14.
Reserve Bank 知事 Philip Lowe 警告するd this week that the 失業率 could 攻撃する,衝突する the "high fives" for a short period of time.
He also 推定する/予想するs the economy will 契約 by at least two per cent in the September 4半期/4分の1, while 財政上の market 経済学者s believe it could be as much as four per cent.
影をつくる/尾行する treasurer Jim Chalmers believes much of this 経済的な 損失 could have been 避けるd.
He will tell the 商売/仕事 会議 of Australia in a speech on Thursday it is not about 存在 "heroes of hindsight" - as 総理大臣 Scott Morrison has 述べるd it - but about "失敗s of foresight".
"An 無(不)能 to 心配する the obvious," Dr Chalmers will say.
"Because まっただ中に all these ups and 負かす/撃墜するs of the last two years one thing has been 確かな - the 回復 has always been 人質 to 連邦の 政府 責任/義務s like ワクチン接種s and 検疫."
