North Korea's solid-燃料 大陸間弾道弾: five things to know
North Korea says it has 首尾よく 実験（する）d its solid-燃料 Hwasong-18 intercontinental 弾道学の ミサイル
North Korea said Thursday it has 首尾よく 実験（する）d the Hwasong-18, its new solid-燃料 intercontinental 弾道学の ミサイル, for the second time.
The 実験（する） on Wednesday 打ち明けるs a major 打開 for North Korea's banned 武器s programmes, but what 正確に／まさに is a solid-燃料 ミサイル and why does it 事柄 that Pyongyang has one?
What is a solid-燃料 ミサイル?
With this type of ミサイル, the 燃料 that 力／強力にするs it is made of a solid 化学製品 mixture.
"This propellant is cast into the ミサイル's airframe when the ミサイル is built: imagine a 爆竹 ロケット／急騰する, ready to go," Ankit Panda, a 核の 政策 専門家 at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, told AFP.
In contrast, liquid-燃料d ミサイルs typically 要求する that the 燃料 and an oxidiser be 挿入するd into the ミサイル before they can be 解雇する／砲火／射撃d -- a slower and more cumbersome proce ss.
Why is it better?
準備するing a liquid-燃料 ミサイル for 開始する，打ち上げる "takes time just like pumping ガソリン to your car", said Cheong Seong-chang, director of the 中心 for North Korean 熟考する／考慮するs at the Sejong 学校／設ける.
And once a liquid-燃料 ミサイル is 用意が出来ている, he 追加するd, "it has to be 解雇する／砲火／射撃d within a short period of time."
Solid-燃料 ミサイルs need to be 蓄える／店d, 持続するd and 扱うd carefully and if this is not done, the 質 of the ミサイル can degrade over time, which could 原因（となる） it to fail.
They are 一般に quicker to （軍隊を）展開する，配備する and have "an advantage in 即座の 開始する，打ち上げる", Japan's 最高の，を越す 政府 広報担当者 Hirokazu Matsuno told reporters, 説 that this week's 実験（する） appeared to be of the same solid-燃料 大陸間弾道弾 ミサイル that North Korea 解雇する／砲火／射撃d in April.
Are North Korean solid-燃料 大陸間弾道弾s 操作の now?
Images of both the April and July 開始する，打ち上げるs show the ミサイル's exhaust plume, which is 一貫した with a dirty, smoky solid propellant at work.
"The 形態／調整 of 炎上 is 一貫した with solid-燃料d ミサイルs -- with the long white smoke coming out of the propellant seconds after liftoff 存在 most demonstrative," Han Kwon-hee of the ミサイル 戦略 会議 told AFP.
The 開始する，打ち上げるs look technically 類似の, he said, 示すing the second 実験（する） "was ーするつもりであるd to 立証する and certify the 正確 and precision of the Hwasong-18".
North Korea's main liquid-燃料d 大陸間弾道弾s have been 実験（する）d 繰り返して -- but only on a lofted trajectory, which is not how they would be used in a real-life 状況／情勢. That leaves 重要な questions about their 業績／成果.
But as North Korea's threshold for what is 効果的に fielded is likely different from others, the new 武器 may be consid ered 操作の even if other 軍のs would 要求する more 実験（する）ing.
Who else has solid-燃料 ミサイルs?
Most 軍のs first start off with liquid-燃料 ミサイル 科学（工学）技術 but soon 努力する／競う to acquire solid-燃料 ミサイルs, which 要求する more 前進するd 科学（工学）技術.
However, not all 前進するd 軍のs 排他的に （軍隊を）展開する，配備する solid-燃料 ミサイルs.
The 部隊d 明言する／公表するs （軍隊を）展開する，配備するs solid-燃料 大陸間弾道弾s and SLBMs, but Russia and 中国 both still operate large liquid-燃料d ミサイルs, 専門家s say.
South Korea, for its part, has the technical capacity for solid-燃料 ミサイルs, and even has some in its 兵器庫, "but their 範囲 is 限られた／立憲的な to cover the Korean 半島", Kim Jong-dae of the Yonsei 学校／設ける for North Korean 熟考する／考慮するs told AFP.
Is this a game-changer?
North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un （人命などを）奪う，主張するs the Hwasong-18 固体燃料 大陸間弾道弾 will "radically 促進する" the country's 核の 反撃 能力s, and 専門家s say it could indeed change the 安全 状況／情勢 on the 半島.
South Korea's self-defence 計画（する） relies in part on a いわゆる Kill Chain preemptive strike system, which 許すs ソウル to 開始する，打ち上げる a preemptive attack if a North Korean attack is 切迫した.
The Hwasong-18 would be far harder to （悪事，秘密などを）発見する, which could upend this preemptive strike 決まり文句／製法 -- although South Korea's defence 省 has 解任するd this 恐れる as "過度の worry".
But if North Korea were to （軍隊を）展開する，配備する solid-燃料 大陸間弾道弾s, it would "signal a game-changer in possible 戦争 with them", the Yonsei 学校／設ける's Kim told AFP.
"The South's 存在するing 計画（する） in 事例／患者 of war with the North is to preemptively strike and destroy the North's ミサイル system after 確認するing 調印するs of 開始する，打ち上げる 準備s," he said.
"But there will be no such 調印するs if the North Koreans 準備する solid-燃料 ミサイルs 目的（とする）ing at the South."
