Migrants between life and death in Tunisia-Libya 砂漠

In the unbearable midday heat, a Libyan patrol 近づく the 国境 with Tunisia comes across a 黒人／ボイコット African man 崩壊（する）d on the 赤みを帯びた-brown 砂漠 sand.
He is barely breathing, and officers try to 生き返らせる him, gently, with a few 減少（する）s of water on his lips.
The man is just one の中で hundreds of migrants arriving daily in Libya after 存在 abandoned in the 砂漠 borderland by Tunisian 安全 軍隊s, によれば Libyan 国境 guards and the migrants themselves.
By the time they reach Libya, the migrants from sub-Saharan Africa are ready to 減少（する） from exhaustion, in 気温s that have 越えるd 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit).
AFP on Sunday 証言，証人／目撃するd the 国境 guards 救助（する） around 100 men and women from an uninhabited zone 近づく Sebkhat al-Magta, a salt lake along the L ibya-Tunisia 国境.
In the distant shimmering heat 煙霧, six 人物／姿／数字s 現れる, the 最新の to reach the area. They speak Arabic and say they have come from Tunisia.

Libyan 国境 guards told AFP that, over the past two weeks, they have 救助（する）d hundreds of migrants who said they were left by Tunisian 当局 in the 国境 地域 近づく Al-Assah, about 150 kilometres (90 miles) west of Tripoli.
In 早期に July, hundreds of migrants from sub-Saharan African countries were driven out of the Tunisian port city of Sfax as racial 緊張s ゆらめくd に引き続いて the death of a Tunisian man in a 衝突／不一致 between 地元のs and migrants.

Haitham Yahiya, from Sudan, said he worked for a year in Tunisia's construction 部門 after reaching the country clandestinely through Niger and Algeria.
"I was at work when they caught me and brought me here, first in a police car then in a (安全 fo rces) トラックで運ぶ. Then they left me and told me to go to Libya," he said in Al-Assah.

At its closest point, 近づく Sfax, Tunisia is only about 130 kilometres from the Italian island of Lampedusa.
The North African country is a major gateway for migrants and 亡命-探検者s 試みる／企てるing perilous sea voyages in hopes of a better life in Europe, whose leaders have 申し込む／申し出d 財政上の 援助（する） to help Tunisia manage the flow.
Human 権利s Watch said up to 1,200 黒人／ボイコット Africans were "expelled, or 強制的に transferred by Tunisian 安全 軍隊s" in July to the country's 砂漠 国境 地域s with Libya and Algeria.
In 中央の-July, the Tunisian Red 三日月 said it had 供給するd 避難所 to at least 630 migrants who had been taken after July 3 to Ras Jedir, about 40 kilometres north of Al-Assah.
A few days later, though, AFP gathered 証言 from hundreds of migrants still stuck in the Ras Jedir 緩衝地帯. They said they had been 軍隊d there by Tunisian 安全 軍隊s.
In Ras Jedir, 350 people remained in a 一時しのぎの物，策 （軍の）野営地，陣営, 含むing 65 children and 12 妊娠している women.
"Their living 条件s are very problematic," a 人道的な 公式の／役人 told AFP, 追加するing that "it is not 維持できる in the long 称する，呼ぶ／期間／用語, there are no 洗面所s, no water 戦車／タンクs, no real 避難所s".
At Al-Assah, dazed migrants continue to stagger in, some with only sandals on their feet.

直面するd with the influx, Libyans from the 国境 guards 大隊 19 of the army, and a 部隊 against Saharan 移民／移住, have been patrolling daily.
"We are on the 境界設定 line between Libya and Tunisia and we see more and more migrants arriving every day," said Ali Wali, 大隊 19 広報担当者.
He said AFP received 許可 to …を伴って the 部隊s "to silence those (in Tunisia) who （人命などを）奪う，主張する that we 捏造する，製作するd it all and brought the migrants here".
Their patrol area covers 15 kilometres around Al -Assah. Wali said that depending on the day, they might find "150, 200, 350, いつかs as many as 400 or 500 不規律な migrants".
On this day there are 110, two of them women. There are supposed to be two others. A 兵士 searches for them through his binoculars.

Tunisia
On Thursday, a 共同の 声明 from 国際連合 機関s referred to the "広げるing 悲劇" of migrants, 難民s and 亡命 探検者s in Tunisia's 国境 地域s.
"They are stuck in the 砂漠, 直面するing extreme heat, and without 接近 to 避難所, food or water. There is an 緊急の need to 供給する 批判的な, life-saving 人道的な 援助 while 緊急の, humane 解答s are 設立する," they said.
The UN has also 選び出す／独身d out Libya in several 報告（する）／憶測s in the past, 公然と非難するing 暴力／激しさ against the 600,000 migrants it 拘留するs, most of them in （軍の）野営地，陣営s.
The 政府 of Tripoli has made it known in 最近の days that it 拒絶するs "resettlement" on its 領土 of migrants arriving from Tunisia.
The migrants, 一方／合間, have crossed the 国境 unknowingly. They walk, they said, in the direction that the Tunisian 安全 軍隊s told them to go -- に向かって Libya.
As a heatwave has 窒息させるd the Mediterranean, some like Alexander Unche Okole said they had walked for two days, without food or water.

Okole, 41, from Nigeria, said he entered Tunisia 経由で Debdeb in Algeria, and "spent some time in Tunis but then the Tunisian police got me. They 逮捕（する）d me in the street and then took me 負かす／撃墜する to the Sahara 砂漠."
He showed a 動きやすい phone whose 審査する was 粉砕するd, he said, by the Tunisians.
"With the Grace of God, the Libyans 救助（する）d me" and 供給するd food and water, Okole said.
He 生き残るd but others have not.
Wali said officers 設立する two 団体／死体s on Saturday, a couple of days after 回復するing five more 含むing a woman and her baby. They had also discovered five 死体s a week earlier, he said.
"How do you 推定する／予想する them to 生き残る? The heat, no water, and a march of two, three days?" Wali asked.
人道的な groups in Libya reached by AFP gave a death （死傷者）数 of at least 17 over the past three weeks.
