US President Joe Biden and his predecessor Donald Trump had big nights on Super Tuesday, although neither managed clean sweeps

US 大統領 Joe Biden and his 前任者 Donald Trump had big nights on 最高の Tuesday, although neither managed clean sweeps

Millions of Americans had their say on 最高の Tuesday, and the country ended the day 大部分は where it had started -- 推定する/予想するing Joe Biden and Donald Trump to be the 候補者s in the 選挙.

But lurking beneath the 投票(する)ing 人物/姿/数字s were 警告 調印するs -- and a few lessons -- for both the Democratic 大統領,/社長 and his 共和国の/共和党の 競争相手 and 前任者.

Here are the 最高の,を越す takeaways from the night:

- Trump train rolls on -

With the 欠如(する) of suspense around the 共和国の/共和党の 大統領の 指名/任命 for November's 選挙, US cable 網状組織 CNN dubbed the night "Stupor Tuesday."

As 推定する/予想するd, long-time frontrunner Trump wiped the 床に打ち倒す with his 単独の remaining 対抗者 Nikki Haley, winning 12 of the first 13 明言する/公表するs called, 含むing the 重要な swing 明言する/公表する of North Carolina.

The former 大統領,/社長 will have to wait until March 12 or 19 to mathematically 保証(人) that he is the 共和国の/共和党の 基準-持参人払いの in November.

But his emphatic victories all but 保証(人)d his rematch against Biden, 解雇する/砲火/射撃ing the starting gun on what will be on the longest 選挙運動s in history.

- Haley plays spoiler in Vermont -

Haley was careful to keep 期待s at 激しく揺する 底(に届く), 辞退するing to 予報する victories in any 明言する/公表する.

Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley has been facing mounting calls to drop out of the primary contest

共和国の/共和党の 大統領の 候補者 Nikki Haley has been 直面するing 開始するing calls to 減少(する) out of the 最初の/主要な contest

In the end she 選ぶd up Vermont, 否定するing Trump a clean sweep and 申し込む/申し出ing her 支持者s what will likely be no more than a なぐさみ prize.

The former 外交官/大使 直面するs 開始するing calls to 減少(する) out and 部隊 behind Trump.

The clamor for her to 収容する/認める 敗北・負かす will 強める after 業績/成果s that did little to 支える her (人命などを)奪う,主張する that she can lead 30-40 パーセント of the party who would rather see someone other than Trum p challenge Biden.

While she was 競争の激しい in Virginia, Massachusetts and Colorado, her electability argument was 土台を崩すd by a 投票(する) 株 that dipped below 20 パーセント in Texas, Tennessee, Alabama and Oklahoma.

- Trouble for Trump? -

Although Trump has swept all before him, returns in 明言する/公表するs where 伝統的な 共和国の/共和党の 投票者s are turned off by 大混乱 and スキャンダル have trained a スポットライト on 可能性のある vulnerabilities in 重要な swing 明言する/公表するs come November.

In CNN's North Carolina 出口 投票, 66 パーセント of Haley 投票者s said Trump was not 肉体的に or mentally fit to be 大統領,/社長, while 81 パーセント said they would not automatically support the 結局の 指名された人.

にもかかわらず Haley's 全体にわたる poor showing, 共和国の/共和党の strategist Karl Rove 警告するd that the 意見の不一致を生じる 大君 "せねばならない be 関心d about 統一するing the 共和国の/共和党の party."

"There's still some work to be done," Rove said on Fox News, 非難するing Trump for using 愛称s for his 対抗者s and 脅すing to excommunicate Haley 寄贈者s.

- Biden sees danger in Gaza 抗議するs -

Biden hasn't really been 実験(する)d by の近くに 競争相手s in the Democratic 最初の/主要な.

But 最高の Tuesday 論証するd again that his biggest 脅し may be the simmering discontent の中で many of the party faithful that could see them staying at home in November.

He 直面するs a 抗議する movement with its roots の中で 進歩/革新的な 行動主義者s furious over his 扱うing of the イスラエル-Hamas 衝突 in Gaza.

Alarm bells first rang when more than 100,000 Michigan Democratic 最初の/主要な 投票者s cast 投票(する)s for "uncommitted" in Michigan's 最初の/主要な in February.

On 最高の Tuesday that 人物/姿/数字 was as high as 87,775 (12.7 パーセント) in North Ca rolina and around 45,000 in Minnesota (19 パーセント) and Massachusetts (nine パーセント), raising 関心s that many younger left-leaning 投票者s could 砂漠 him.

Reality check: there wasn't a 抱擁する difference between 投票者s choosing uncommitted instead of Biden in 2024 and 民主党員s doing the same when Obama was 捜し出すing reelection in 2012.

- And there was American Samoa -

It wasn't just Trump that 行方不明になるd out on a clean sweep.

Biden has lost the Democratic (政党の)幹部会,党集会s in American Samoa -- a South 太平洋の island 領土 of 45,000 people -- to a White House 希望に満ちた who had 現実に visited as part of his (選挙などの)運動をする.

The US マスコミ hurried out explainer articles headlined "Who is Jason Palmer?"

American Samoa has a history of contrarianism, having been the only 明言する/公表する or 領土 to 投票(する) for Biden 競争相手 Michael Bloomberg in 2020.
