S.Africa economy in 悲惨な 海峡s as political 火刑／賭けるs rise

South Africa's 大蔵大臣 received some faint 賞賛する last week -- not for the economy's 業績／成果, but for admitting the country is in a 悲惨な position that is 始める，決める to get worse.

Gigaba's 予算 声明 on Wednesday 削除するd the GDP growth 予測（する） for 2017 from 1.3 パーセント to just 0.7 パーセント, and 明らかにする／漏らすd that by 2020, 15 パーセント of 政府 歳入 would be eaten up by 負債 re 支払い（額）.

"Gigaba is 存在 more honest about the 規模 of the problem as he wants to put distance between himself and an ますます 人気がない Zuma."

失業 is at a 記録，記録的な／記録する high of 27.7 パーセント, more than half of the 56.5-million 全住民 live in poverty, and 商売／仕事 信用／信任 in August was at its lowest level since the 中央の-1980s.
One day after the 予算 声明, the ランド fell to its lowest level against the dollar since last November.
The raft of grim 経済的な data comes as 緊張s rise within the African 国家の 議会, which will choose a new party leader in December to 取って代わる Zuma.
The race has 悪化させるd 分割s, as Zuma appears to 支援する his ex-wife Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma against the other 主要な 競争相手, 副 大統領 Cyril Ramaphosa.

Gigaba was "at least 率直に honest about the 状況／情勢 the country is 直面するing," Sean Muller, an 経済学者 at the University of Johannesburg, wrote after the 予算 声明.
