At least 32 dead as Kenya dam bursts after 豪雨s

At least 32 people died after a dam burst in central Kenya, 広範囲にわたる away their homes while many of them were asleep, police said Thursday.
After a 厳しい 干ばつ, weeks of 豪雨s in Kenya have led to flooding and mudslides that have left 164 dead.
The 私的な Patel dam, used for irrigation and fish farming, burst on Wednesday evening in Solai, 近づく the 不和 Valley city of Nakuru, 地域の police 長,指導者 Gideon Kibunjah told AFP.
"The search and 救助(する) 演習 is 現在進行中の and more 団体/死体s have been retrieved. The number we have as of now is 32 people dead and several are 行方不明の," Kibunjah said.
"It is a 災害 because most people were asleep when the 悲劇 occurred and their houses were swept away."
He said 36 people had been hospitalised.
A 上級の police officer at the scene, speaking on 条件 of anonymity, said 緊急 労働者s had spent the night 徹底的に捜すing through (海,煙などが)飲み込むd houses to retrieve the 団体/死体s of the 犠牲者s and had only covered about half of the 影響する/感情d area.
"We 設立する 11 of the 団体/死体s covered with mud at a coffee 農園 and these are people who may have been escaping but could not make it 予定 to the 軍隊 and 速度(を上げる) of the water from the flooded dam," he said.

"Most of them are women and children who could not have been able to run 急速な/放蕩な, and the 年輩の."
The dam is surrounded by an informal 解決/入植地 住宅 casual labourers who work on nearby farms.
The Kenyan Red Cross 見積(る)s that up to 500 families were 影響する/感情d by the 災害, which took place some 150 kilometres (90 miles) northwest of Nairobi.
"We have 始める,決める up a centre 近づく the scene for families to 報告(する)/憶測 行方不明の members to enable us to 再会させる them," said Nakuru 知事 物陰/風下 Kinyanjui.
