Egypt's historic Wafd party （太陽，月の）食／失墜d under Sisi's 支配する
The 'New Wafd', 長，率いるd by El-Sayed El-Badawi, （人命などを）奪う，主張するs to embrace the 原則s of the old party but critics argue it has lost its 自由主義の essence by supporting 大統領 Sisi
A century after Egypt's March 1919 革命, the 目だつ Wafd party credited with 主要な popular 需要・要求するs to end the British 占領／職業, has now been 大部分は sidelined on the country's political scene, 分析家s say.
A one-time 自由主義の 対立 軍隊 with a 集まり に引き続いて, Wafd is considered Egypt's oldest 生き残るing party, having started its political life under the then 君主国 during the 早期に 20th century.
But in 最近の times critics say the party's 役割 has descended into irrelevance under the 支配する of 大統領 Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
"The party has 完全に lost its lustre and no longer attracts 自由主義のs," said political science professor at Cairo University Hassan Nafaa.
"Wafd still lives on the credit of its historic 跡をつける 記録，記録的な／記録する."
Since its 設立するing in the wake of the 1919 革命, the par ty quickly rose through Egypt's political echelons 主要な several 政府s which were 大部分は at 半端物s with the king.
It remained for years the 直面する of Egyptian politics before 存在 取り去る／解体するd along with others まっただ中に the rise of the 軍の 支配する in Egypt in 1952.

It was not until more than 20 years later that Wafd rose again from the ashes rebranding itself as the "New Wafd" under late 大統領，／社長 Anwar al-Sadat.
But Wafd MP Fouad Badrawi 持続するs his party still has "衝撃" on the ground にもかかわらず the political blows it has received over the years. "It has been through 多重の ups and 負かす／撃墜する over the years, but it is still 生き残るing," he said.

The "New Wafd" （人命などを）奪う，主張するs to embrace the 原則s of the old party with civil 権利s and freedoms at its 核心.
Critics however argue that Wafd has lost its 自由主義の essence by supporting Sisi.
"It is not possible for any party in 関係 with the 現在の 政権 ... to （人命などを）奪う，主張する to be 自由主義の," Nafaa said.
Under Sisi, Egyptian 当局 have curtailed freedoms and 開始する，打ち上げるd a 厳重取締 on dis sent. Tens of thousands of political 対抗者s have been 逮捕（する）d and 告発（する），告訴（する）／料金d.
In January, 国際アムネスティ said Egypt's stepped up 厳重取締 on dissent has made the country "more dangerous" than ever for 平和的な critics.
Badrawi, who is also a 上級の Wafd member, however 持続するs that the party 固執するs to its 自由主義の 政策s, 解任するing 権利s group's 告訴，告発s as "baseless."
"We (as the Wafd party) don't 反対する for the sake of 反対. We only raise 反対s when the people or the nation are in danger," Badrawi said.
Another 核心 value of the old Wafd was its support for 世俗的な governance.
To this day, the party's motto is still "宗教 is for God and the nation is for all." Its emblem remains the cross interlinked with the 三日月 moon, 象徴的な of 国家の まとまり.
This 世俗的な spirit was blurred after the party (1)偽造する／(2)徐々に進むd 同盟s with the イスラム教徒 Brotherhood group on several occasions since its resurrection.
"Its 同盟 with the Brotherhood 損失d its image and 減ずるd its 人気," said Nafaa.
Wafd has also 支援するd general-turned-大統領，／社長 Sisi since his rise to 力／強力にする after the 軍の 追放／剥奪 of former Islamist 大統領，／社長 Mohamed Morsi, who あられ／賞賛するs from the Brotherhood.
In the 2018 選挙s, the party threw its support behind Sisi who ran 事実上 uncontested winning 97 パーセント of the 投票（する）.
- Possible 競争相手? -
Wafd 現在／一般に 持つ／拘留するs 43 seats in the 596-seat 議会 which 会を召集するd in 2016, two years after Sisi took office.
As an 設立するd party, it counts 目だつ businessmen の中で its 階級s and is considered to be 井戸／弁護士席 財政／金融d compared to others.
"Wafd has some 220 支店s and more than 500,000 members 全国的な," said Wafd 広報担当者 Yasser al-Hodeibi. Although it is not （疑いを）晴らす whether all the party's members are active.
It also 所有するs the only 同志／支持者 newspaper, によれば Hodeibi.
にもかかわらず its ample 財政上の 能力s, the party failed to field a 候補者 in the 2 018 選挙s.
But it has nonetheless 約束d to run a 候補者 in the 近づいている 選挙s in 2022.

"We are 準備するing three 目だつ 人物／姿／数字s so that one of them could 潜在的に run the race," said Hodeibi.
Nafaa believes a Wafd 候補者 will stand little to no chance if they are running against Sisi.
"It will be a 候補者 to 正当化する the 選挙s," Nafaa said. "This will be another blow to the party's image."
