Chicago's first 率直に gay 市長 takes office 公約するing 改革（する）

Chicago's first 率直に gay 市長 -- who is also the first 黒人／ボイコット woman to 持つ／拘留する the 地位，任命する -- took office Monday with a 約束 to clean up 汚職 and 取り組む 普及（する） gun 暴力／激しさ in America's third-largest city.
Lori Lightfoot, who shocked the 設立 with her come-from-behind 選挙（人）の 勝利，勝つ last month, was sworn into office in a high-profile 就任（式）／開始 at a Chicago sports 円形競技場.

Evan McKenzie, who teaches political science at the University of Illinois at Chicago, said Lightfoot's 勝利，勝つ is the most 重要な 市長の 選挙 since Harold Washington became the city's first 黒人／ボイコット 市長 in 1983.
"She has a powerful 委任統治（領） to make changes," McKenzie told AFP.
In her speech, Lightfoot challenged elected 公式の／役人s in the room -- whom she deliberately turned to 直面する at one point -- to not stand in her way.
