High 火刑/賭けるs for army as 抗議するs (海,煙などが)飲み込む Lebanon

Lebanese 兵士s wear white roses 手渡すd to them by 抗議する人s after they ignored 圧力 from the political 設立 to 再開する 封鎖するd roads, by 軍隊 if necessary
It's one of the iconic images of Lebanon's 抗議するs: the 涙/ほころびs of a 兵士 torn between his 義務 and a loving (人が)群がる -- the same 窮地 now 直面するing the 国家の army.
An 前例のない, cross-sectarian 抗議する movement 需要・要求するing the 除去 of an 堅固に守るd political エリート has paralysed the country since October 17, leaving the army with a difficult 仕事.
When デモ参加者/実演宣伝者s this week 封鎖するd roads to 圧力(をかける) their 需要・要求するs, 兵士s were (軍隊を)展開する,配備するd to 再開する them.
What could have been a 緊張した sequence ended with 抗議する人s singing the 国家の 国家, 賞賛するing the 兵士s and 手渡すing them flowers.
"There have been repeated 試みる/企てるs by the political 設立... to get the 軍の to (疑いを)晴らす the street," said Aram Nerguizian, a 研究員 at the 中心 for 戦略の and International 熟考する/考慮するs.
"The Lebanese 武装した 軍隊s have resisted these 試みる/企てるs," said Nerguizian.
Fadi Daoud, a retired army general, said the 武装した 軍隊s had to juggle what have become "two contradictory 義務s" -- 保護するing the people's freedoms and 遂行する/発効させるing the orders of the political 設立.
Its 仕事 has been その上の 複雑にするd by the 出現 of 反対する-demonstrations by party 現体制支持者/忠臣s looking to 直面する the 抗議する人s lambasting their leaders.

にもかかわらず the myriad 直面する-offs between 軍隊/機動隊s and 抗議する人s at 一時しのぎの物,策 roadblocks across Lebanon, 小競り合いs have been thin on the ground
The Lebanese army was in tatters at the end of the 1975-1990 civil war, an empty 爆撃する in a country that was under Syrian 占領/職業 until 2005.
一方/合間, the Iranian-支援するd Shiite 民兵 Hezbollah grew to outgun the army, which took years to 回復する its 信用性 but never lost its 人気.

"The Lebanese 軍の is one of the very few 会・原則s that is both の近くに to 存在 代表者/国会議員 of the public, demographically, and at the same time behaving in a way over time that is 概して 信頼できる," Nerguizian said.
With around 80,000 職員/兵員, the army is seen as a symbol of 国家の まとまり that has 天候d sectarian 分割s and 緊張s over the years.
によれば Daoud, the 前例のない 抗議するs that have gripped the country could be an 適切な時期 for the army to その上の 増加する the legitimacy it needs "to build up its strength and viability."
It has received billions of dollars from the West in 最近の years but its (人命などを)奪う,主張する to 存在 the country's protector continues to be rivalled by Hezbollah, the only group that did not 武装解除する after the civil war.
観察者/傍聴者s say the 前例のない 全国的な nature of the 抗議する movement is likely to create 橋(渡しをする)s between the デモ参加者/実演宣伝者s and the army.
In 2005, which was the last time that many people took to the streets, the army was caught between the 競争相手 プロの/賛成の-Syrian and anti-Syrian (軍の)野営地,陣営s. p>

Analsysts say that the 非,不,無-confessional ethos of the 抗議するs has created a natural 橋(渡しをする) with the army, by far Lebanen's most 尊敬(する)・点d 国家の 会・原則
Today, political leaders have diverging positions "but the street is one", said Daoud, who served in the 軍の from 1983 to 2019.
The images of the 兵士 who was moved to 涙/ほころびs by the 抗議するs and those of another embracing his father who was の中で the デモ参加者/実演宣伝者s touched the heart of the Lebanese public.
"He's crying because he's one of us, he feels our 苦痛 and we feel his," said Ali, a 34-year-old の中で the thousands 占領するing the main square in Beirut every day.
Graffiti reading "the army is a red line" has started appearing on the 塀で囲むs of Beirut, another 調印する of its 人気 の中で the 抗議する人s.
With the 抗議する人s calling for the 卸売 解雇/(訴訟の)却下 of the political class without 申し込む/申し出ing a (疑いを)晴らす 代案/選択肢, some have argued the army could step in.
Pictures of the 指揮官 of the 武装した 軍隊s, Joseph Aoun, have started appearing on social マスコミ with the スローガン: "Save us!"
