America is in flux. Once stable 職業s have become 不安定な, 集まり マスコミ that grounded Americans' thinking have given way to online cacophony, and communities that seemed monolithic have been transformed by 多様制.
As the 部隊d 明言する／公表するs enters its 選挙 season, Americans are はっきりと divided on political 解答s but 概して agree on at least one point -- the country is changing, and the November 3 大統領の 投票（する） will be pivotal in setting its direction.

Ahead of the nation's first 選挙 contest, the February 3 Iowa （政党の）幹部会，党集会s to start selecting the parties' 指名された人s, a team of AFP 新聞記者／雑誌記者s sought to take the political pulse of the country by 運動ing to the Midwestern 明言する／公表する from Washington.

While Wilson is a loyal 民主党員, supporting the party's 成果／努力s to 拡大する health care 接近, Ashtabula 郡 swung はっきりと for Trump in 2016, giving the mogul a nearly 19-point victory in a 郡 that twice before went for Barack Obama.
More than 200 郡s swung for Trump in 2016 after choosing Obama, 大部分は in 半分-田舎の northern 明言する／公表するs that have seen the hardest 衝撃 of 産業の 拒絶する／低下する and the nation's opioid 中毒 疫病／流行性の.

If Trump's tell-it-like-it-is bravado and 設立-bashing pulled in 投票者s fed up with the status quo, his 大統領／総裁などの地位 has also はっきりと 広げるd 分割s, with no one feeling it more than 少数，小数派s.
The 億万長者 real-広い地所 developer rose to political prominence propagating an unfounded 共謀 theory that Obama, the first African-American 大統領，／社長, was born in Africa, and 公約するing to keep out Mexican and イスラム教徒 移民，移住（する）s.
Some 13.6 パーセント of the US 全住民 is foreign born and 多様制 can be seen even in remote small towns, where it is ますます 平易な to find Mexican groceries and Vietnamese noodle shops and where the only doctors may be from India.

"I began to think, maybe my 投票（する） 現実に does count," she said.
At a high school 競争 at the gleaming 跡をつける-and-field 中心 in Geneva, Ohio, educator Kelly Bullock Daugherty, who is African-American, said she has started to need uncomfortable conversations with her three children.
Her eldest son was going door-to-door with classmates from his 人種上 mixed school as part of a sports 基金-raiser when he was stopped by police after someone called to say he was looking into windows.
"Since the 選挙, we as 少数，小数派s in particular have been more intentional about teaching our children about race relations. Unfortunately, you need to know how to 答える／応じる in 確かな 状況／情勢s," she said.

Autobody shop owner Alvin Ross, who is also African-American, said he was stunned to hear people 率直に use the n-word epithet since the 選挙.
He gave Trump credit for taking a tougher line on 中国's 貿易（する） 政策s. But he 疑問d that Trump's 核心 support was based on 経済的なs.
"This place to me has never been as racial. This is the most I've ever seen it," he said as he ate breakfast at the My Girl's diner in Charleroi, Pennsylvania.
"Leave the Mexicans alone. They ain't bothering nobody . They work harder than someone else."
He said he was shocked to hear people complain about 苦痛 from Trump's 削減（する）s in food stamps but then put up his "Make America 広大な／多数の／重要な Again" 調印するs.
"When people of color see those 調印するs, they say, there's a 人種差別主義者. There's no 推論する／理由 a poor person should be 投票（する）ing for Trump."

Toni Carlisle, who runs a 蓄える／店 selling ワイン and gifts in Ashtabula's downtown, regretted how political discourse had turned "汚い, ugly and 防御の."
"Nobody is pausing to say -- instead of getting in your （軍の）野営地，陣営 -- what is the meaning of what's happening here, and what can we learn and what can we do better?"
Digging into a plate of tacos, for which he drove 25 キロメーターs (15 miles) as there is no Mexican restaurant in his town of Wilton, Iowa, マイク Collins said he had lost friends on Facebook over politics.
"I've unfollowed a couple of people just because they are so one-味方するd," said Collins, 69, a retired union 労働者 and 民主党員.
"As old as I am, I've never seen people talk about politics like they are today," he said, 非難するing the "rhetoric coming out of the White House" for the souring atmosphere.

Co-owner Richard D'Agostino said that the blue-collar town had more Trump 支持者s than 対抗者s but that the critics were 特に 声の.
