"Based on the 予選 地震 parameters... 危険な 津波 waves are possible for coasts 位置を示すd within 300 km of the 地震 震源地," the 太平洋の 津波 警告 中心 said.
A 津波 警告 for the Alaskan 半島 and south Alaska was later 取り消すd after only small waves were 記録，記録的な／記録するd.
警告 サイレン／魅惑的なs were sounded in Kodiak, the main city on Kodiak island, and several thousand people were 避難させるing lower lying areas, Sergeant Daniel Blizzard, with the Alaska 明言する／公表する 州警察官，騎馬警官s, told 11 KTVA News earlier.
"People are pretty 関心d 特に with an 地震 that big that の近くに to Kodiak," he said.
"The last one, there was no wave どれでも. This time, we're not sure there is a wave, but we are 準備するing like there is one," Blizzard said.
The first place 予報するd to see a 津波 wave, Sandy Point, had so far 報告（する）／憶測d only "a very small wave," James Gridley, director of 国家の 津波 警告 中心 in Palmer, told Alaska Public マスコミ (APM).
"We're not 推定する／予想するing a 大規模な wave anywhere," he said.
The 国家の 津波 警告 中心 in Palmer said a 津波 was 生成するd "but no longer 提起する／ポーズをとるs a 脅し."
A 最大限 津波 高さ of 0.8 feet (24 センチメートルs) above tide level was 記録，記録的な／記録するd at Sandy Point just after midnight (0800 GMT), it said.
The 地震 however was felt hundreds of miles away.
"Bed and curtains were going. Felt like a very long 地震!" one 証言，証人／目撃する in ホームラン, Alaska, 400 miles from the 震源地, said on the 地震 監視するing website msc-csem.org.
It was followed by several aftershocks, the strongest 手段ing 5.7.
There were no 即座の 報告（する）／憶測s of 損失 or 死傷者s.
The （軽い）地震 appeared to be a subduction zone 地震, where two tectonic plates converge, a 地震学者 said.
"It's the interface, the plate 境界 between where the 太平洋の plate thrusts underneath North America. A very 基準 type of 地震 in this area," マイク West from the Alaska 火山 観測所 told APM.
Alaska is part of the seismically active 太平洋の （犯罪の）一味 of 解雇する／砲火／射撃.
