Brittney Griner receiving, answering WNBA players' emails
Brittney Griner can´t play with her WNBA 同僚s. She can´t call them, either.
But she can 令状.
In one small bit of normalcy, Griner has been able to receive emails and letters from WNBA players during her detainment in Russia. Hundreds of emails have been sent by players to an account Griner´s スパイ／執行官 始める，決める up to 許す them to communicate with her.
It´s not 平易な: The emails are printed out and 配達するd sporadically in bunches to Griner by her lawyer after they are vetted by ロシアの 公式の／役人s. Griner doesn´t have 接近 to the email account; she´ll either 令状 a 返答 on paper and her lawyers will take a photo of it or she´ll dictate a 返答 if she doesn´t have any paper.
Los Angeles 誘発するs 今後 Amanda Zahui B. never thought she´d hear 支援する from Griner when she sent an email to the 不死鳥／絶品 水銀柱，温度計 中心 a few months ago.
"When she 答える／応じるd to my second letter it blew me away," Zahui B. said. "I was like she 答える／応じるd!! In my third letter, I was like `hey best friend, we are 公式に best friends now.´"

Like so many WNBA players, Zahui B. 手配中の，お尋ね者 Griner to know she was thinking about her as the two-time Olympic gold メダル受領者 remains, in the 見解（をとる） of U.S. 公式の／役人s, wrongfully 拘留するd in Russia.
Griner has been 拘留するd for 105 days after vape cartridges 含む／封じ込めるing oil derived from cannabis were 恐らく 設立する in her luggage at an airport 近づく Moscow.
When Zahui B. got her first 返答 from Griner it made her smile and she 約束d herself she would send more 公式文書，認めるs. And she has, sending them every few weeks. So have many other players.
"We just don´t want her to think she´s forgotten," Liberty 中心 Stefanie Dolson said.
It´s not just emails 存在 sent to Griner; Diana Taurasi 現実に sent a 手渡す-written l etter to her 水銀柱，温度計 and Olympic チーム仲間.
Griner´s スパイ／執行官 Lindsay Kagawa Colas said the letters have been a way for the 6-foot-9 中心 to stay connected to her WNBA family.

"She jokes in her letters. I don´t know how she does it with what she´s going through. She´s an amazing soul," Zahui B. said. "She brings light in a 状況／情勢 like this. I don´t think a lot of people could manage to do that."
Zahui B., who jokingly 認める she tends to ramble, sent Griner updates on her daily activities 述べるing such mundane things as getting her nails done or what she ate for lunch.
She wasn´t 極端に の近くに with Griner when they both played in the WNBA and in Europe, but got to know her better over time. Griner sent a ビデオ to Zahui B,´s mom 申し込む／申し出ing support when she was 戦う／戦いing breast 癌 and another one for her 60th birthday a few years ago.

Last month, the Biden administratio n said Griner, 31, is 存在 wrongfully 拘留するd. In May, her 拘留，拘置 was 延長するd another month until at least the middle of June.
"It´s hard. It´s like so 極度の慎重さを要する and you don´t want to say the wrong thing," said Mystics 今後 Elizabeth Williams. "It´s also a sad 状況／情勢 and you don´t want to remind her it´s a sad 状況／情勢. I think at the end of the day she´s happy to hear anything from anybody."
Williams said the union has sent out texts every couple of weeks to remind WNBA players they can reach out to Griner through the email account. For now, the account isn't open to the public in an 成果／努力 to keep it manageable.
New York Liberty´s Sandy Brondello, who coached Griner in 不死鳥／絶品 for nine seasons, just 設立する out about the chance to email her former player a few days ago.
"I´m going to tell her that I love her and that I´m thinking about her," said an emotional Brondello. "That´s my girl, it´s terrible. She´s been there too long."
