DUBLIN, Ohio (AP) - Former Masters 支持する/優勝者 Hideki Matsuyama was disqualified Thursday when 公式の/役人s 決定するd he had too much paint on the 直面する of his 3-支持を得ようと努めるd that he was using for alignment.

It was the first time Matsuyama, who won the 記念の in 2014 for his first PGA 小旅行する victory, had ever been disqualified on the PGA 小旅行する.

長,指導者 審判(をする) Steve Rintoul said 支配するs 公式の/役人s were made aware of 10 small lines forming a circle on the 直面する of his 3-支持を得ようと努めるd. Matsuyama had just teed off at Muirfield Village and was approached on the second 穴を開ける.

It's 承認する to have a 非,不,無-適合するing club in the 捕らえる、獲得する as long as it hasn't been used. Matsuyama said he used it for his 開始 tee 発射.

Rintoul said he met him on the fifth fairway to talk to the Japanese 星/主役にする and to take pictures of the club. He then brought in the USGA and the 小旅行する's 器具/備品 基準s leader to make sure, and the result was disqualification.

The alignment 援助(する) was not at 問題/発行する, rather the 実体 used to create the lines was 厚い enough that it could 影響する/感情 the flight of the ball.

Rintoul 述べるd the 実体 as white-out used in 直す/買収する,八百長をするing typographical errors on paper.

"There was a lot of white," he said. "A white-out 実体 that was very much up on the 直面する of the club, which, really, it's very (疑いを)晴らす in 器具/備品 支配するs that is not 許すd."

He said he の近くにd his yes and rubbed his fingernail across the 直面する of the club. In one direction he could feel the paint, and the other direction he couldn't.

"It was 厚い enough you could 選ぶ up on where it was on the 直面する," he said.

Rintoul said someone in the ゴルフ 産業 whom he 拒絶する/低下するd to identify pointed out pictures of Matsuyama's club that had been taken a few days ago. They reached Matsuyama too late to keep him from using the club in 競争.

"But the 損失 was done on the first 穴を開ける," Rintoul said. "Just unfortunate 始める,決める of circumstances for Hideki, for sure."

Matsuyama left after nine 穴を開けるs - he was 3-over par - without comment. His next tournament is the U.S. Open in two weeks.
