Felix comes out of 退職, helps 4x400 relay into final

EUGENE, 鉱石. (AP) - Enjoying retired life, Allyson Felix was eating hot wings and sipping on a root beer float in Los Angeles when the phone rang.

She was needed 支援する in Oregon for the prelims of the 4x400 women's relay. Could she return to world 選手権s?

The most decorated （短距離で）速く走る人 in U.S. history was on her way. She jumped on a 計画（する） and was on the 跡をつける Saturday night for the "last" time to help the Americans 前進する to the final.

支援する into 退職 she goes. She said she will watch the final of the women's 4x400 on Sunday from the seats.

That's the 計画（する） - for now. She did have the fastest one-（競技場の）トラック一周分裂（する） of her チーム仲間s as the U.S. 地位，任命するd the fastest qualifying time of 3 minutes, 23.38 seconds.

"From what I know," the 36-year-old Felix said of whether this is really the end. "But you know, what do I know?"

Last Friday, she went through an emotional send-off after helping the 4x400 mixed relay team to a bronze メダル. That was supposed to be it.

She went 支援する to Los Angeles for the ESPY Awards and was a few hot wings in when she was 召喚するd to the 跡をつける for an encore 業績／成果.

Talitha Diggs ran the 開始脚 for the U.S. before 手渡すing off to Felix. She 力／強力にするd around the 跡をつける and gave the baton to Kaylin Whitney, the （短距離で）速く走る人 who grew up idolizing Felix. Jaide Stepter Baynes brought it home.

"It´s 肉親，親類d of coming 十分な circle, literally," Whitney said of taking the baton from Felix. "To be able to run と一緒に her, 同様に as these other 広大な／多数の／重要な ladies, is always a 特権. I can´t be happier."

Soon after her run, Felix crouched 負かす／撃墜する by the scoreboard and then sat on the grass to watch. When it was over, she hugged her チーム仲間s.

"I was 井戸／弁護士席 on my way (to 退職)," said Felix, who had her Saysh spikes - a footwear company she 開始する，打ち上げるd - dangling from her shoulder. "I had no 計画（する）s to be 支援する here for the 残り／休憩（する） of the 会合，会う. But things happen. I felt good. It was really 冷静な／正味の to run when the stadium was 十分な and just get all the love, and run with this amazing group of women. It's really 始める，決める the team up to go after the 肩書を与える."

The American 次第で変わる／派遣部隊 in the final 人物／姿／数字s to be 400-メーター障害物 world 支持する／優勝者 Sydney McLaughlin, fresh off her world-記録，記録的な／記録する業績／成果 Friday, and Dalilah Muhammad, who won bronze in the race. They were on the winning 4x400 team at the Tokyo Games. So were Felix and Athing Mu. But Mu has the final of the 800 on the same day.

Any chance Felix may leave the seats to run again?

"I was asked to run in the prelim," Felix said.

Should the group bring home a メダル - the team is a big favorite - it would be Felix's 20th メダル at world 選手権s, 延長するing a 記録，記録的な／記録する she already held. She also has 11 Olympic メダルs.

"It was just about 存在 a team player and putting them in position to run their best (Sunday)," Felix said.

Her 即座の計画（する）s 回転する around one thing - more hot wings.

"I only got a few of them," Felix said. "I´ll finish them now."

A LANE BY HERSELF

ベルギー hurdler Anne Zagre will always have a 冷静な／正味の story of how she ran all by herself in a heat at worlds. She will probably have the scars to 証明する it, too.

Zagre ran all alone in 小道／航路 six because in a 一連の会議、交渉／完成する one heat during the morning 開会／開廷／会期, defending 支持する／優勝者 Nia Ali 衝突，墜落d into the 10th 障害物 and 妨げるd Zagre´s 小道／航路. The 陪審／陪審員団 of 控訴，上告 made the 決定／判定勝ち（する） to have Zagre run in a 代用品，人 heat for a chance to 前進する. She 攻撃する，衝突する the last 障害物 and fell across the finish line. She had 包帯s on her left shoulder and 手渡す, along with both 膝s.

"Such a pity that I touched the last 障害物 and fell 負かす／撃墜する," Zagre said. "I have no words. I 現実に have mixed feelings. Just crazy."

END OF REIGN

For Ali, her 統治する as world 支持する／優勝者 comes to an end. The 33-year-old mother of three 攻撃する，衝突する the ninth 障害物 while in the lead and fell into the 10th. She took the 後退 in stride.

"It´s part of my 旅行. I have to embrace every part of it," Ali said. "I am not incredibly happy about it but I have to 打ち勝つ it. I 手配中の，お尋ね者 to do my very best in 前線 of the home （人が）群がる. I was 用意が出来ている to show a 急速な／放蕩な time."

There's a gold メダル going home with the family. Her partner, Andre De Grasse, ran the 錨，総合司会者脚 to help Canada take gold over the 好意d Americans in the men's 4x100.

DECATHLON, DAY 1

Ayden Owens-Delerme of Puerto Rico has a 121-point lead over Canada´s Pierce Lepage after the first day of the １０種競技.

"Day 1 was a successful 旅行," Owens-Delerme said. "The １０種競技 is a 戦う／戦い of mind, not of 団体／死体. Today, I felt like I 征服する／打ち勝つd my mind and I was able to 押し進める my 団体／死体 to do things it´s never felt before."

The Americans have two decathletes in メダル content: Zachery Ziemek (現在／一般に third) and Kyle Garland (fourth).

IN THE FIELD

In 三段跳び, Pedro Pichardo, who left Cuba to compete for Portugal, 追加するd a gold メダル to go with his Olympic 肩書を与える. Also competing was Cuba´s L?zaro 市場?nez, who was the final 競技者 on his team to compete in Eugene. Martinez fouled on all three of his jumps. ... Anderson Peters of Grenada defended his world javelin 肩書を与える. He held off Olympic gold メダル受領者 Neeraj Chopra of India.
