5 years on, 重要な #MeToo 発言する／表明するs take 在庫／株 of the movement
Once again, 不名誉d mogul Harvey Weinstein sits in a courtroom, on 裁判，公判 in Los Angeles while the reckoning the 告訴，告発s against him 開始する，打ち上げるd 示すs a 重要な milestone this month: It's been five years since a 簡潔な／要約する hashtag - #MeToo - galvanized a 幅の広い social movement.
The Associated 圧力（をかける） went 支援する to Louisette Geiss and Andrea Constand, accusers in two of the #MeToo 時代's most momentous 事例／患者s - Weinstein, already 罪人／有罪を宣告するd in a New York 事例／患者, and 法案 Cosby, once 罪人／有罪を宣告するd and now 解放する／自由な - to learn how their lives have changed, whether they have any 悔いるs, and how 希望に満ちた they feel after a decidedly mixed 捕らえる、獲得する of 合法的な results.
And we spoke to the woman who 初めは coined the phrase - Tarana Burke, a longtime 支持する for 性の 暴力／激しさ 生存者s and a 生存者 herself - about her own 旅行, the movement's resilience, and the challenges ahead.
LOUISETTE GEISS: A LAWSUIT AND A MUSICAL
All in all, Louisette Geiss considers herself one of the luckier ones: When she tried to run out of a hotel room to escape Harvey Weinstein´s 申し立てられた／疑わしい 前進するs, the door opened. She was able to 逃げる.
Geiss, a former actress and screenwriter who, in 2017, （刑事）被告 Weinstein of 試みる／企てるing to 軍隊 her to watch him masturbate in a hotel bathroom in 2008, was the lead 原告／提訴人 in a class 活動／戦闘 訴訟 against his former studio.

But fighting through the 司法（官） system - an experience that has 深く，強烈に 失望させるd her - was not the only means by which Geiss has 試みる／企てるd to 対処する. She's also written a musical.
"The 権利 Gir l" was waylaid by the pandemic but will be produced live onstage いつか in 2023. The show, with a high-profile 生産／産物 team that 含むs songwriter Diane 過密な住居, tells the story of three women at さまざまな levels of 力／強力にする in a workplace 疫病／悩ますd by a serial 性の predator.
"In the end, you see that the judicial system is still not in the 権利 place to take him 負かす／撃墜する," Geiss said. "It´s really society that takes him 負かす／撃墜する."
It's a reflection of Geiss' 見解（をとる） that the latter has moved faster than the former to 吸収する the lessons of #MeToo, albeit still imperfectly.
"I think the MeToo movement definitely gave predators pause to 行為／法令／行動する on their inclinations," she said. "I think that they have been 警告するd. And so they are いっそう少なく likely to do it, but I do think they´re still doing it."
At times, yes, she had 悔いるs about coming 今後. She worried about the 影響s on her children, now 7 and 5 - her youngest was only weeks old when the 事例／患者 爆発するd. But it was also her children that made her realize she had to fight.
"In the end, to make a bigger change for women and for children - for your child, and for my children - it was important that I step up and do it," she said.
That´s also why Geiss, 48, continues to encourage younger 生存者s to speak out - even though she understands why they may not want to.
"You don´t want your 指名する to be synonymous with Weinstein. Neither do I," she said of her pitch to them. "But guess what? They´re not going to go away until we keep 叫び声をあげるing about this."
ANDREA CONSTAND: `IT WAS THE RIGHT THING TO DO´
For Andrea Constand, the 長，指導者 accuser in Cosby´s 犯罪の 事例／患者, the past five years have been 騒然とした, to say nothing of the 先行する １０年間.
Cosby´s lawyers loudly derided her as a "反対／詐欺 artist" during the first celebrity 裁判，公判 of the #MeToo 時代, in 2018. Yet the 陪審／陪審員団 nonetheless 罪人／有罪を宣告するd the 高齢化 comedian of drugging and sexually 強襲，強姦ing her in 2005 and a 裁判官 sent him to 刑務所，拘置所. Then, a Pennsylvania 控訴，上告s 法廷，裁判所 解放する／自由なd Cosby last year.
Constand had gone to police a year after the 遭遇（する） with Cosby, which he called consensual. A 検察官，検事 拒絶する／低下するd to 圧力（をかける） 告発（する），告訴（する）／料金s, later 説 he had 内密に 約束d Cosby he'd never be 告発（する），告訴（する）／料金d - a hotly 審議d （人命などを）奪う，主張する that 最終的に undid the 有罪の判決. And the first 陪審／陪審員団 to hear her 事例／患者, in 2017, couldn´t reach a 判決.
Through the yearslong 嵐／襲撃する, Constand has remained serene. She believes these are just 早期に days for the movement.
"I think it was a much needed time to be able to 演説（する）／住所 the 問題／発行する (of) just how 深遠な 性の 暴力／激しさ is - in boardrooms, in 会社／団体s, in the entertainment 産業 and just 一般に all over," Constand, 49, said this month from her home 近づく Toronto, a 田舎の 退却／保養地 that she says brings her 孤独 and peace.
"A lot of 外傷／ショック was 解放（する）d," she 追加するd. "Keeping secrets can really can make you sick."
The AP does not 指名する people who say they have been sexually 強襲，強姦d, unless they come 今後 公然と.
She continues to work as a massage therapist, while 押し進めるing 国会議員s to 可決する・採択する a 合法的な 鮮明度／定義 of 同意. As 賠審員s in both Cosby´s Pennsylvania 裁判，公判 and Weinstein´s in New York 審議する／熟考するd, they asked for the 鮮明度／定義 - but the 法律 in both 明言する／公表するs was silent.
She has written a memoir, and started a 創立／基礎 to help 性の 強襲，強姦 生存者s through their physical, spiritual and emotional 回復. She has also created a 動きやすい app where 生存者s can 捜し出す 外傷／ショック-知らせるd services.
"I had everything to lose and nothing to 伸び（る）. I was a loser, you know, really, going in," Constand said of her 2006 police （民事の）告訴.
But にもかかわらず all the 新たな展開s and turns, "it was the 権利 thing to do," she 結論するd, 特記する／引用するing #MeToo movements around the world.
"You have ... everybody coming out of that shame and out of that silence," she said.
TARANA BURKE: KEEPING THE MOMENTUM GOING
Harvey Weinstein. R. Kelly. 法案 Cosby. Two are in 刑務所，拘置所, one has been 解放する／自由なd.
And that´s 正確に／まさに how not to 手段 the success of the #MeToo movement, says Tarana Burke - as a scorecard of high-profile "勝利，勝つs" and "losses," and through the レンズ of celebrity.
Rather, says the 支持する for 性の 暴力／激しさ 生存者s, cultural change should be the 重要な metric. And by that 基準, she says, the movement has 達成するd an "awe-奮起させるing" 量 in five years.
"Five and a half years ago, we could not have a 支えるd 全世界の conversation about 性の 暴力／激しさ that was でっちあげる，人を罪に陥れるd inside social 司法（官）. It was always でっちあげる，人を罪に陥れるd inside 罪，犯罪 and 罰, or celebrity gossip," she said.
Burke, 49, had coined "Me Too" as part of her advocacy work more than a １０年間 before a hashtagged tweet from actor Alyssa Milano, in the wake of the Weinstein 主張s, saw the phrase 爆発する.
Just six months earlier, Burke 解任するs, she had been on an 組織するing 退却／保養地 in California, 手渡すing out T-shirts and dreaming aloud about how she could 活力を回復させる her work and raise enough money to 小旅行する 黒人／ボイコット colleges and universities to raise 認識／意識性. When the スポットライト 転換d to #MeToo later in 2017, her first worry was that the work behind her phrase would be coopted. But she soon realized she had an enormous 適切な時期.
"The ki nd of 転換 we need to see 維持できる change, we´re still working toward. But the 転換 we´ve had in the last five years would have taken 20 years to happen (without #MeToo), and that´s incredible," she said.
Burke has spent the last few years building an organization to 促進する the movement, and has published a raw memoir, "Unbound," which 含むs an account of how she herself was 強姦d at seven years old.
Burke 公式文書，認めるs proudly that a new Pew 熟考する／考慮する shows more than twice as many Americans support, rather than …に反対する, #MeToo. But, she says, struggles remain, 特に ーに関して／ーの点でs of bringing 黒人／ボイコット, Indigenous, trans and 無能にするd women into the conversation, and in shoring up fundraising.
The goal now is to keep 勢い going and 回復する the 早期に enthusiasm.
Burke likes to remind people that within the first year, some 19 million people went on Twitter to say "me too," attesting to their own experiences in a powerful 集団の／共同の reckoning.
"This is why we have a movement that cannot be ignored," Burke says.
