Macao 緩和するs COVID 支配するs, but 観光旅行，事業, casinos yet to 回復する
MACAO (AP) - Only a few tourists crisscrossed the wavy 黒人／ボイコット and white 覆うing of Macao's historic Senado Square on a 最近の weekday and many of the shops were shuttered.
The gaming 中心 on 中国´s south coast 近づく Hong Kong has 耐えるd some of the world´s strictest anti-ウイルス 支配（する）／統制するs for nearly three years, and a 緩和するing of 国境 制限s after 中国 rolled 支援する its "無-COVID" 戦略 in 早期に December is 広範囲にわたって 推定する／予想するd to 上げる its 観光旅行，事業-driven economy.
But for now, 中国´s worst wave of 感染s so far is keeping away the hoards of high rollers who usually fill its casinos. From Dec. 23-27, the city saw a daily 普通の／平均（する） of only 8,300 arrivals, によれば police data. That´s just 68% of November´s level. The scene 改善するd on New Year's Eve with 28,100 訪問者s entering the city that day, but that's only 66% of the level a year ago. The daily 普通の／平均（する） was 108,000 in 2019, before the pandemic.
Last week, 中国 発表するd it would 再開する 問題／発行するing パスポートs for 観光旅行，事業, 潜在的に setting up a flood of Chinese going abroad, but also spicing up 競争 for Macao.
商売／仕事s are hoping the Lunar New Year holidays in late January will bring better luck for the 領土 of 672,000 people, a former Portuguese 植民地 and the only place in 中国 where casinos are 合法的な.
"Tourists just come here to have a walk instead of shopping," said Antony Chau, who sells roasted chestnuts on the square known for the European-style buildings that 解任する it s history as a former Portuguese 植民地. "They´re just wandering."

When the coronavirus 攻撃する，衝突する in 2020, the city´s 賭事ing 歳入 崩壊（する）d 80% to just $7.5 billion from a year earlier. In 2021, the 人物／姿／数字 回復するd to $10.8 billion, but that's still 負かす／撃墜する 75% from a 頂点（に達する） of $45 billion in 2013. 賭事ing 歳入s last year was halved to $5.3 billion.
A 回復する could not come a moment too soon for souvenir shop owner 物陰／風下 Hong-soi.
He said his 商売／仕事 has been even quieter recently than before 入ること／参加（者） 支配するs were relaxed. Since 入ること／参加（者） into Macao 要求するs a 消極的な PCR 実験（する） result before 出発, many in 本土／大陸 中国 could not visit because they were 感染させるd, he said. And now Macao and other parts of 中国 are 戦う／戦いing 突発／発生s.
"I am running out of strength after 耐えるing for three years," he said.
Several hundred メーターs away, 訪問者s were enjoying an unusual degree of tranquility at the 廃虚s of St. Paul´s, 初めは the 17th century Church of Mater Dei.
Rain 物陰／風下, 29, visiting from Hong Kong with her husband, said she was happy not to を取り引きする （人が）群がるs, but disappointed so many 商売／仕事s were shuttered.
"Many shops are gone," said 物陰／風下, a 所有物／資産／財産 経営者／支配人. "I wish it could be like the pre-pandemic days when all 蓄える／店s were open, with many people walking in the streets. It was more vibrant 支援する then."
Beijing 訪問者 Xylia Zhang, 36, taking her first trip outside the 本土／大陸 since the pandemic began, was looking 今後 to trying her luck in the casinos.
"It´s やめる exciting because I may lose the several hundred dollars (in Chinese yuan) that I 予算d," she said. "I have been to casinos in ソウル a nd Las Vegas. But I 港／避難所´t experienced that in Chinese-speaking places."
The 殺到する of 事例／患者s in 中国 has 誘発するd some people to go to Macao to get 発射s of the mRNA-based Pfizer-BioNTech ワクチン, which is not 利用できる in the 本土／大陸, the Chinese 商売／仕事 news website Caixin 報告（する）／憶測d last month. Macao's University Hospital, which 供給するs the service, did not reply to an emailed request for comment and its phone rang unanswered Friday.
But there has been no 調印する of a 急ぐ of 顧客s, 特に not in the casinos.
賭事ing 床に打ち倒すs at two major casinos were half-empty Wednesday, with just a few small groups of Chinese 訪問者s sitting around slot machines and craps （米）棚上げする／（英）提議するs, 売買業者s visibly bored with the 欠如（する） of activity.
It will take a while for Macao to 回復する its pre-pandemic pizzazz, said Glenn McCartney, associate professor in 統合するd 訴える手段／行楽地 and 観光旅行，事業 管理／経営 at the University of Macao.
"(For) 観光旅行，事業, you can´t sort of snap your fingers, and things start to move," McCartney said.
But he said Macao's 観光旅行，事業 公式の／役人s have 行う／開催する／段階d road shows in 中国 during the pandemic, てこ入れ／借入資本ing the scenic city's 場所 just across the 国境.
The Lunar New Year will bring a sense of the 可能性のある for a longer 称する，呼ぶ／期間／用語 回復する in 観光旅行，事業, he said.
"That could be the cue."
