LONDON (AP) - Tens of thousands of nurses and 救急車 staff walked off the 職業 in the U.K. on Monday in what unions called the biggest strike in the history of the country's public health system.

The ストライキ is the 最新の in a wave of strikes that has 混乱に陥れる/中断させるd Britons´ lives for months, as 労働者s - 特に in the public 部門 - 需要・要求する 支払う/賃金 raises to keep pace with 二塁打-digit インフレーション. Teachers, train drivers, airport baggage handlers, 国境 staff, 運動ing 指導者s, bus drivers and 郵便の 労働者s also have all walked off their 職業s in 最近の months to 需要・要求する higher 支払う/賃金.

Teachers, health 労働者s and many others say their 給料 have fallen in real 条件 over the last 10年間, and a cost-of-living 危機 燃料d by はっきりと rising food and energy prices has left many struggling to 支払う/賃金 their 法案s.

Victoria Busk, a 訓練生 nursing associate at a 外傷/ショック 中心 in Birmingham, central England, said hospitals were understaffed and nurses "run off our feet 24/7."

"We need people to want to come into" the profession, she said. "The only way that we´re going to get that is by raising 給料 and make sure it is something that people want to do."

Britain's 年次の インフレーション 率 was 10.5% in December, a 41-year high. The 保守的な 政府 argues that giving public 部門 staff 支払う/賃金 増加するs of 10% or more would 運動 インフレーション even higher.
