Insider Q&A: 孤独な 星/主役にする Credit Union CEO on cryptocurrencies

NEW YORK (AP) - Credit unions have been dipping their toes into cryptocurrency over the past year. The タイミング 大部分は 同時に起こる/一致するd with the "crypto winter" that saw 数字表示式の coins 急落(する),激減(する) in value and 非常に/多数の 交流s and 貸す人s 崩壊(する).

But at the 高さ of the crypto craze in late 2021, many credit unions saw their members buying cryptocurrency in 重要な numbers. In December 2021, the 国家の Credit Union 行政, the 連邦の 機関 that 規制するs credit unions, 解放(する)d 指導/手引 明らかにするing that federally insured credit unions can partner with third-party providers to 許す their members to buy, sell and 持つ/拘留する cryptocurrencies.

孤独な 星/主役にする Credit Union, a small Dallas credit union with $163 million in 資産s, 言及するs members 利益/興味d in buying cryptocurrency to BankSocial, a 非,不,無-custodial wallet provider, which gives 買い手s 支配(する)/統制する over 接近 to their 資産s.

In an interview with The Associated 圧力(をかける), 孤独な 星/主役にする Credit Union CEO Becky Reed discusses the 共同 and why she is 楽観的な about crypto's 未来.

Q: What was behind 孤独な 星/主役にする's 決定/判定勝ち(する) to enter the crypto market?

A: It was in late 2021 and 早期に 2022 that we noticed that our members were buying crypto. At that point in time, we really thought that our members weren't. If you asked our (n)役員/(a)執行力のある team and our board they would say, '井戸/弁護士席, our members don't care about cryptocurrencies.' 井戸/弁護士席, the data showed さもなければ.

Q: What did the data show?

A: There is a popular notion that 豊富な people are buying a bunch of crypto and 持つ/拘留するing it and selling it and making a lot of money. But the truth is what we saw was people buying it 類似の to what they would buy with 在庫/株s like on E-貿易(する) or something. Every time they got a paycheck, they would buy $100.

Q: Has that 傾向 changed with the 下降 of cryptocurrencies?

A: Now it has 劇的な 減少(する)d. Now it´s like the die-hard people. Maybe 10% of the people who were buying it are still buying it. So we've seen it 大いに 減ずるd in both 容積/容量 and how often.

Q: So where do you see cryptocurrency going?

A: A lot of the hype that was happening in the 早期に part of 2022 in particular, 原因(となる)d a lot of 恐れる of 行方不明の out, FOMO. And so I think that people 潜在的に got into the space because of that without really understanding what it is that they were getting into. And I think that there certainly was a 誤解 of custodianship. You know, who 現実に owns the crypto in your wallet ... But now that some of the 消極的な things have happened in this space, a lot of that 恐れる of 行方不明の out went away. And now the real use 事例/患者s and the real 建設業者s in this space 肉親,親類d of have a 滑走路 to do things in a 規制するd and compliant way. I believe that 分配するd ledger 科学(工学)技術, which 含むs cryptocurrency but is not 限られた/立憲的な to cryptocurrency, is the 未来 of 財政/金融.

Q: What was the advantage of partnering with a 非,不,無-custodial wallet provider?

A: When you really look at the 推論する/理由 crypto was created, it was created for self-保護/拘留 .... Our members were buying it anyway and in some 事例/患者s were buying it from unscrupulous 交流s that were some place that wasn´t very 規制するd, 高度に 規制するd. So, BankSocial follows the 規則s here in the 部隊d 明言する/公表するs. It's self-保護/拘留. Self-保護/拘留 was something that was important and we 人物/姿/数字d, 井戸/弁護士席, let´s 言及する it.

Q: Does 孤独な 星/主役にする 申し込む/申し出 any 肉親,親類d of 財政上の advice about crypto?

A: In no way are we recommending that people go out and buy crypto. If you choose to do that, we recommend BankSocial, but it´s really around, you know, this is not an 投資 製品, it´s not insured, and it has a high 量 of volatility and 危険. And we at 孤独な 星/主役にする are not giving you any advice as to what you should buy.
