Search for 地震 生存者s enters final hours in Turkey

ADIYAMAN, Turkey (AP) - The desperate search for 地震 生存者s in Turkey and Syria entered its final hours Monday as 救助者s using sniffer dogs and thermal cameras 調査するd pulverized apartment 封鎖するs for any 調印する of life a week after the 災害.

Teams in southern Turkey's Hatay 州 元気づけるd and clapped when a 13-year-old boy identified only by his first 指名する, Kaan, was pulled from the がれき. In Gaziantep 州, 救助(する) 労働者s, 含むing coal 鉱夫s who 安全な・保証するd tunnels with 木造の supports, 設立する a woman alive in the 難破 of a five-story building.

Stories of such 救助(する)s have flooded the airwaves in 最近の days. But tens of thousands of dead have been 設立する during the same period, and 専門家s say the window for 救助(する)s has nearly の近くにd, given the length of time that has passed, the fact that 気温s have fallen to minus 6 degrees Celsius (21 degrees Fahrenheit) and the severity of the building 崩壊(する)s.

The 7.8 magnitude 地震 and its aftershocks struck southeastern Turkey and northern Syria on Feb. 6, 減ずるing 抱擁する 列s of towns and cities to mountains of broken 固める/コンクリート and 新たな展開d metal. The death (死傷者)数 has より勝るd 35,000.

In some areas, 捜査員s placed 調印するs that read "ses yok," or "no sound," in 前線 of buildings they had 検査/視察するd for any 調印する that someone was alive inside, HaberTurk television 報告(する)/憶測d.

Associated 圧力(をかける) 新聞記者/雑誌記者s in Adiyaman saw a 調印する painted on a 固める/コンクリート 厚板 in 前線 of 難破 示すing that an 専門家 had 検査/視察するd it. In Antakya, people left 調印するs 陳列する,発揮するing their phone numbers and asking 乗組員s to 接触する them if they 設立する any 団体/死体s in the rubbl e.

The 地震's 財政上の 損失 in Turkey alone was 概算の at $84.1 billion, によれば the Turkish 企業 and 商売/仕事 連合, a 非,不,無-政治の 商売/仕事 organization. Calculated using a 統計に基づく comparison with a 類似して 破滅的な 1999 地震, the 人物/姿/数字 was かなり higher than any 公式の/役人 見積(る)s so far.

In other 開発s, Syria´s 大統領,/社長 agreed to open two new crossing points from Turkey to the country´s 反逆者/反逆する-held northwest to 配達する 猛烈に needed 援助(する) and 器具/備品 for millions of 地震 犠牲者s, the 国際連合 発表するd.

U.N. 長官-General Antonio Guterres welcomed the 決定/判定勝ち(する) by Syrian leader Bashar Assad to open crossing points at Bab Al-Salam and Al Ra?e for an 初期の period of three months. 現在/一般に, the U.N. has only been 許すd to 配達する 援助(する) to the northwest Idlib area through a 選び出す/独身 crossing at Bab Al-Hawa.

Some 100 キロメーターs (62 miles) from the 震源地, almost no houses were left standing in the Turkish village of Polat, where 居住(者)s 海難救助d refrigerators, washing machines and other goods from 難破させるd homes.

Not enough テントs have arrived for the homeless, 軍隊ing families to 株 the テントs that are 利用できる, 生存者 Zehra Kurukafa said.

"We sleep in the mud, all together with two, three, even four families," Kurukafa said.

Turkish 当局 said Monday that more than 150,000 生存者s have been moved to 避難所s outside the 影響する/感情d 州s. In the city of Adiyaman, Musa Bozkurt waited for a 乗り物 to bring him and others to western Turkey.

"We´re going away, but we have no idea what will happen when we get there," said the 25-year-old. "We have no goal. Even if there was (a 計画(する)), what good will it be after this hour ? I no longer have my father or my uncle. What do I have left?"

Fuat Ekinci, a 55-year-old 農業者, was 気が進まない to leave his home for western Turkey, 説 he did not have the means to live どこかよそで and that his fields need to be tended.

"Those who have the means are leaving, but we´re poor," he said. "The 政府 says, go and live there a month or two. How do I leave my home? My fields are here, this is my home, how do I leave it behind?"

Volunteers from across Turkey have 動員するd to help millions of 生存者s, 含むing a group of chefs and restaurant owners who served 伝統的な food such as beans and rice and lentil soup to 生存者s who lined up in the streets of downtown Adiyaman.

The 普及した 損失 含むd 遺産 場所/位置s in places such as Antakya, on the southern coast of Turkey, an important 古代の port and 早期に 中心 of Christianity 歴史的に known as Antioch. Greek 正統派の churches in the 地域 have started charity 運動s to 補助装置 the 救済 成果/努力 and raise 基金s to 再構築する or 修理 churches.

In Syria, 当局 said a newborn whose mother gave birth while 罠にかける under the がれき of their home was doing 井戸/弁護士席. The baby, Aya, was 設立する hours after the 地震, still connected by the umbilical cord to her mother, who was dead. She is 存在 breastfed by the wife of the director of the hospital where she is 存在 扱う/治療するd.

Such accounts have given many hope, but Eduardo Reinoso Angulo, a professor at the 学校/設ける of 工学 at the 国家の 自治権のある University of Mexico, said the 見込み of finding people alive was "very, very small now."

David Alexander, a professor of 緊急 planning and 管理/経営 at University College London, agreed. He said the 半端物s were not very good to begin with.

Many of the buildings were so 貧しく 建設するd that they 崩壊(する)d into very small pieces, leaving very few spaces large enough for people to 生き残る in, Alexander said.

"If a でっちあげる,人を罪に陥れる building of some 肉親,親類d goes over, 一般に speaking we do find open spaces in a heap of がれき where we can tunnel in," Alexander said. "Looking at some of these photographs from Turkey and from Syria, there just aren´t the spaces."

Winter 条件s その上の 減ずるd the window for 生き残り. In the 冷淡な, the 団体/死体 shivers to keep warm, but that 燃やすs a lot of calories, meaning that people also 奪うd of food will die more quickly, said Dr. Stephanie Lareau, a professor of 緊急 薬/医学 at Virginia Tech in the U.S.

Many in Turkey 非難する 欠陥のある construction for the 広大な 荒廃, and 当局 have begun 的ing 請負業者s 恐らく linked with buildings that 崩壊(する)d. Turkey has introduced construction codes that 会合,会う 地震-工学 基準s, but 専門家s say the codes are rarely 施行するd.

As the 規模 of the 災害 has come into 見解(をとる), 悲しみ and 不信 have turned to 激怒(する) over the sense that the 緊急 返答 was 効果のない/無能な. That 怒り/怒る could be a political problem for Turkish 大統領 Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who 直面するs a 堅い reelection 戦う/戦い in May.

Turkey´s death (死傷者)数 has 越えるd 31,000, and the health 大臣 said more than 19,000 生存者s were 存在 扱う/治療するd in hospitals. Deaths in Syria, 分裂(する) between 反逆者/反逆する-held areas and 政府-held areas, have risen beyond 3,500, although those 報告(する)/憶測d by the 政府 港/避難所´t been updated in days.

U.N. 広報担当者 Stephane Dujarric said U.N. 人道的な 長,指導者 ツバメ Griffiths met Monday with Syria´s 大統領 Bashar Assad and 外務大臣 after visiting Aleppo and seeing the 破滅的な 損失 there.

He 強調する/ストレスd that the 国際連合 doesn´t have 激しい 器具/備品 for 穴掘りs or search-and-救助(する) 成果/努力s "so the international community as a whole needs to step up to get that 援助(する) where it´s needed."

In 新規加入, the U.N.´s 人道的な partners need 救急車s, 薬/医学, 避難所s, heaters and 緊急 food, water and 衛生設備 and hygiene items, Dujarric said.
