最新の 負かす/撃墜するd 反対するs could 井戸/弁護士席 be 'benign,' US says

WASHINGTON (AP) - The three still-身元不明の 空中の 反対するs 発射 負かす/撃墜する by the U.S. in the past week likely had 単に a "benign 目的," the White House 定評のある Tuesday, 製図/抽選 a distinction between them and the 大規模な Chinese balloon that earlier 横断するd the U.S. with a 嫌疑者,容疑者/疑うd goal of 監視.

"The 知能 community is considering as a 主要な explanation that these could just be balloons tied to some 商業の or benign 目的," said White House 国家の 安全 広報担当者 John Kirby.

公式の/役人s also 公表する/暴露するd that a ミサイル 解雇する/砲火/射撃d at one of the three 反対するs, over Lake Huron on Sunday, 行方不明になるd its ーするつもりであるd 的 and landed in the water before a second one 首尾よく 攻撃する,衝突する.

The new 詳細(に述べる)s (機の)カム as the Biden´s 行政´s 活動/戦闘s over the past two weeks 直面するd fresh scrutiny in 議会.

First, U.S. 闘士,戦闘機 jets didn't shoot 負かす/撃墜する what 公式の/役人s 述べるd as a Chinese 秘かに調査する balloon until after had crossed much of the 部隊d 明言する/公表するs, 特記する/引用するing safety 関心s. Then the 軍の (軍隊を)展開する,配備するd F-22 闘士,戦闘機s with heat-捜し出すing ミサイルs to quickly shoot 負かす/撃墜する what likely were 害のない 反対するs.

Taken together, the 活動/戦闘s raised political 同様に as 安全 questions, about whether the Biden 行政 overreacted after 直面するing 共和国の/共和党の 批評 for 反応するing too slowly to the big balloon.

Even as more informat イオン about the three 反対するs 現れるs, questions remain about what they were, who sent them and how the U.S. might 答える/応じる to 身元不明の 空輸の 反対するs in the 未来.

Still unaddressed are questions about the 初めの balloon, 含むing what 秘かに調査するing 能力s it had and whether it was transmitting signals as it flew over 極度の慎重さを要する 軍の 場所/位置s in the 部隊d 明言する/公表するs. It was believed by American 知能 to have 最初 been on a 跡をつける toward the U.S. 領土 of Guam, によれば a U.S. 公式の/役人.

The U.S. 跡をつけるd it for several days after it left 中国, said the 公式の/役人, who spoke to The Associated 圧力(をかける) on 条件 of anonymity to discuss 極度の慎重さを要する 知能. It appears to have been blown off its 初期の trajectory and 最終的に flew over the 大陸の U.S., the 公式の/役人 said.

Balloons and other 身元不明の 反対するs have been 以前 spotted over Guam, a 戦略の 中心 for the U.S. 海軍 and 空気/公表する 軍隊 in the western 太平洋の.

It´s 不明瞭な how much 支配(する)/統制する 中国 保持するd over the balloon once it veered from its 初めの trajectory. A second U.S. 公式の/役人 said the balloon could have been externally 作戦行動d or directed to loiter over a 明確な/細部 的, but it´s 不明瞭な whether Chinese 軍隊s did so.

Even いっそう少なく is known about the three 反対するs 発射 負かす/撃墜する over three 連続する days, from Friday to Sunday, in part because it's been challenging to 回復する 破片 from remote 場所s in the Canadian Yukon, off northern Alaska and 近づく the Upper 半島 of Michigan on Lake Huron. So far, 公式の/役人s have no 指示,表示する物 they were part of a bigger 監視 操作/手術 along with the balloon that that was 発射 負かす/撃墜する off the South Carolina coast on Feb. 4.

"We don´t see anything that points 権利 now to 存在 part of the PRC 秘かに調査する balloon program," Kirby told reporters, referring to the People's Repub lic of 中国. It´s also not likely the 反対するs were "知能 collection against the 部隊d 明言する/公表するs of any 肉親,親類d - that´s the 指示,表示する物 now."

No country or 私的な company has come 今後 to (人命などを)奪う,主張する any of the 反対するs, Kirby said. They do not appear to have been operated by the U.S. 政府.

Kirby had hinted Monday that the three 反対するs were different in 事実 ways from the balloon, 含むing in their size. And his comments Tuesday 示すd a (疑いを)晴らす 成果/努力 by the White House to draw a line between the balloon, which 公式の/役人s believe was part of a Chinese 軍の program that has operated over five continents, and 反対するs that the 行政 thinks could 簡単に be part of some 研究 or 商業の 成果/努力.

In Washington, 米国防総省 公式の/役人s met with 上院議員s for a 分類するd 要点説明 on the shootdowns. 国会議員s 伝えるd 関心s from their 選挙権を持つ/選挙人s about a need to keep them 知らせるd and (機の)カム away 保証するd the 反対するs were not extraterrestrial in nature but wanting many more 詳細(に述べる)s.

Still, Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., said the successful 最近の interceptions were likely to have a "静めるing 影響(力)" and make 未来 shootdowns いっそう少なく likely.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., told reporters after the 要点説明 that he didn´t think the 反対するs 提起する/ポーズをとるd a 脅し.

"They´re trying to 人物/姿/数字 out - you know there´s a bunch of junk up there. So you got to 人物/姿/数字 out what´s the 脅し, what´s not. You see something, you shouldn´t always have to shoot it 負かす/撃墜する," Graham said.

Biden has ordered 国家の 安全 助言者 Jake Sullivan to form an interagency team to 熟考する/考慮する the (犯罪,病気などの)発見, 分析 and "disposition of u nidentified 空中の 反対するs" that could 提起する/ポーズをとる either safety or 安全 危険s.

The 最近の 反対するs have also drawn the attention of world leaders 含むing in Canada, where one was 発射 負かす/撃墜する on Saturday, and in the 部隊d Kingdom, where the 首相 has ordered a 安全 review.

Japan´s 弁護 省 said Tuesday that at least three 飛行機で行くing 反対するs spotted in Japanese 領空 since 2019 are 堅固に believed to have been Chinese 秘かに調査する balloons.

一方/合間, U.S. 公式の/役人s 確認するd that a first ミサイル 目的(とする)d at the 反対する over Lake Huron landed instead in the water, but that a second one 攻撃する,衝突する the 的.

Gen. 示す Milley, chairman of the 共同の 長,指導者s of Staff, said the 軍の went to "広大な/多数の/重要な lengths" to make sure 非,不,無 of the strikes put 非軍事のs at 危険, 含むing identifying what the 破片 field size was likely to be and the 最大限 効果的な 範囲 of the ミサイルs used.

"We´re very, very careful to make sure that those 発射s are in fact 安全な," Milley said. "And that´s the 指導/手引 from the 大統領,/社長. Shoot it 負かす/撃墜する, but make sure we 最小限に減らす collateral 損失 and we 保存する the safety of the American people."

The 反対する taken 負かす/撃墜する Sunday was the third in as many days to be 発射 from the skies. The White House has said the 反対するs 異なるd in size and maneuverability from the Chinese 監視 balloon that U.S. 闘士,戦闘機 jets 発射 負かす/撃墜する earlier this month, but that their 高度 was low enough to 提起する/ポーズをとる a 危険 to 非軍事の 空気/公表する traffic.

We ather challenges and the remote 場所s of where the three 反対するs were 発射 負かす/撃墜する over Alaska, Canada and Lake Huron have 妨げるd 回復 成果/努力s so far.

Milley was in Brussels with 弁護 長官 Lloyd Austin to 会合,会う with members of the ウクライナ共和国 弁護 接触する Group on 付加 武器s and 弁護 needs for Kyiv in 前進する of Russia's 心配するd spring 不快な/攻撃.
