What's the status of the US 死刑?
The first 連邦の 資本／首都 事例／患者 tried under 大統領 Joe Biden ended with a 分裂（する） の中で 賠審員s that means the life of an Islamic 極端論者 who killed eight people in a New York City will be spared. It （機の）カム at a rare 連邦の 死刑 裁判，公判 in a 明言する／公表する without the 死刑.
That Biden's 司法（官） Department continued to 追求する the 死刑 for Sayfullo Saipov, who used a トラックで運ぶ to mow 負かす／撃墜する 歩行者s and cyclists on a popular bike path, was a surprise to many given Biden's 対立 to 死刑 and his 2016 （選挙などの）運動をする 誓約（する） to end it federally.
The 陪審／陪審員団's 失敗 to reach a 全員一致の 決定／判定勝ち（する） means Saipov receives an (a)自動的な／(n)自動拳銃 宣告，判決 of life in 刑務所，拘置所 without the 可能性 of 仮釈放（する） for the October 2017 attack.

The 連邦の 死刑 wasn't a high-profile 問題／発行する until Trump 再開するd them in 2020 after a 17-year hiatus. With 13 inmates put to death in his last months in office, Trump oversaw more 連邦の 死刑執行s than any 大統領，／社長 in more than 120 years.
Here is a look at the 現在の status of the 連邦の 死刑 under Biden:

HOW WAS THERE A CAPTIAL CASE IN A STATE WITHOUT CAPITAL PUNISHMENT?
Saipov's 事例／患者 was a rare instance of the 司法省 捜し出すing the 死刑 in one of the more than 20 明言する／公表するs that does not have 死刑, 製図／抽選 on U.S. 法律s that 許す 死刑執行s by 連邦の 当局 for exceptional 罪，犯罪s.

WHAT HAS BIDEN DONE TO DA TE?
Biden himself has not 問題／発行するd any formal 指示的なs or 施政方針演説s on 連邦の 死刑. During the 2016 （選挙などの）運動をする, he 公約するd both to end the 連邦の 死刑 for good, and to work at ending it in all 明言する／公表するs. He has been silent on both 連邦の and 明言する／公表する 死刑s.
The 欠如（する） of （疑いを）晴らす steps toward 廃止するing the 死刑 or （疑いを）晴らすing 連邦の （刑務所の）死刑囚棟 using (n)役員／(a)執行力のある 当局 would leave to the door open to a 未来 プロの／賛成の-死刑 大統領，／社長 once against 再開するing 死刑執行s by the U.S. 政府.
Under Garland , the 司法（官） Department hasn't sought the 死刑 in any new 事例／患者s. It also has 孤立した requests for 死刑 sought by 事前の 行政s against more than two dozen 被告s.
The 司法（官） Department 発表するd in January that it would not 捜し出す the 死刑 for Patrick Crusius, who is （刑事）被告 of fatally 狙撃 nearly two dozen people in a 人種差別主義者 attack at a West Texas Walmart in 2019. Crusius later pleaded 有罪の to 連邦の hate 罪，犯罪 and 武器s 告発（する），告訴（する）／料金s.

WHAT HAS THE WHITE HOUSE SAID?
In an email to The Associated 圧力（をかける） earlier this year, the White House said the 大統領，／社長 "has long talked about his 関心s about how the 死刑 is 適用するd and whether it is 一貫した with the values 根底となる to our sense of 司法（官） and fairness." WHAT ABOUT THE MORITORIUM?
Garland 発表するd a 停止（させる） to 連邦の 死刑執行s in 2021, meaning the 司法（官） Department won't 問題／発行する orders to 遂行する／発効させる anyone, at least while the 支払い猶予／一時停止 is in place.
But the 支払い猶予／一時停止 doesn't stop the department from 追求するing the 死刑 and it doesn't stop U.S. 検察官，検事s from continuing to fight 合法的な 活動／戦闘 by （刑務所の）死刑囚棟 inmates trying to 避ける 死刑執行.
The Garland 支払い猶予／一時停止 is 類似の to one ordered in 2014 by 大統領 Barack Obama に引き続いて a botched 明言する／公表する 死刑執行 in Oklahoma. That Obama didn't take more far-reaching 活動／戦闘 on the 連邦の 死刑執行s enabled Trump to 再開する them.
Trump 公式の／役人s argued that carrying out the 死刑執行s was a 事柄 of 従うing with U.S. 法律 and bringing long 延期するd 司法（官） to 犠牲者s' 親族s.
WHAT DOES THE REVIEW DURING THE MORATORIUM ENTAIL?

WHAT ABOUT THE PROTOCOLS?
In September, the 司法（官） Department 問題／発行するd a public notice 捜し出すing comment about changes to Trump 議定書s, 含むing one permitting 死刑執行 methods other than lethal 注射, such as 解雇する／砲火／射撃ing squads.
In a 最近の letter, Democratic U.S. Rep. Ayanna Pressley and Sen. 刑事 Durbin 勧めるd the 司法（官） Department to quickly 無効にする all the Trump 議定書s, 含むing one 権限を与えるing the use of 明言する／公表する 施設s and staff in 連邦の 死刑執行s, calling the orders "irreparably tainted."

WHAT DO DEATH PENALTY OPPONENTS WANT DONE?
They say Biden should draw on his 大統領の 力／強力にするs to 減刑する／通勤する all 連邦の death 宣告，判決s to life in 刑務所，拘置所, which would 妨げる those death 宣告，判決s from ever 存在 回復するd.
There's also 提案するd 法律制定 to strike the 死刑 from U.S. 法令s and resentence the more than 40 inmates still on 連邦の （刑務所の）死刑囚棟 to life. Biden has given no 指示，表示する物 he supports any such 対策.
