Social 問題/発行するs 支配する in Women's Hall of Fame's new class

SENECA FALLS, N.Y. (AP) - A new group of 国家の Women's Hall of Fame inductees 含むs social 司法(官) 開拓するs, groundbreaking 内科医s and women who have 支持する/優勝者d ユダヤ人の feminist theology and the 財政上の 井戸/弁護士席-存在 of Native Americans, the 学校/設ける 発表するd Wednesday.

"When I was a young girl, I 手配中の,お尋ね者 above all to be popular. By the time I was 35, I decided I would rather be useful than popular," inductee Peggy McIntosh, an 行動主義者 known for her 探検s of 特権, said by email after the honorees were 発表するd.

She and the other living inductees - Kimberl? Crenshaw, Judith Plaskow, Loretta Ross and Allucqu?re Rosanne "Sandy" 石/投石する - have helped 運動 問題/発行するs of white 特権, systemic 人種差別主義, reproductive 司法(官), transgender 熟考する/考慮するs and feminist theology into the public discourse.

Three women will be inducted posthumously: Dr. Patricia Bath (1942-2019), an 早期に 開拓する of レーザー cataract 外科 and the first 黒人/ボイコット woman 内科医 to receive a 医療の 特許; Dr. Anna Wessels Williams (1863-1954), who 孤立するd a 緊張する of diphtheria that helped in its 治療; and Elouise Pepion Cobell, known as "Yellow Bird Woman" (1945-2011), who started the first bank 設立するd by a tribe on a 保留(地)/予約 in Browning, Montana.

McIntosh, 88, has written 広範囲にわたって about 特権, 含むing in her 1989 essay, "White 特権: Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack," in which she 述べるd "an invisible 一括 of unearned 資産s" that white people, but not やむを得ず 黒人/ボイコット people, can count on in everyday life.

The academic 枠組み dates 支援する to the 1970s, but the phrase has become a political flashpoint in 最近の years as parents and 政治家,政治屋s 審議 how race and American history should be taught in public schools.

Plaskow, 76, is regarded as the first Jewishfeminist theologian for calling out an absence of 女性(の) 視野s in ユダヤ人の history.

"We must (判決などを)下す 明白な the presence, experience and 行為s of women erased in our 伝統的な sources," she wrote in her groundbreaking 1990 調書をとる/予約する, "Standing Again at Sinai: Judaism from a Feminist 視野."

Ross, 69, foun ded the 国家の 中心 for Human 権利s Education in Atlanta. The Smith College professor and 2022 MacArthur Fellowship 受取人 has drawn on her experiences as a 生存者 of 強姦 and nonconsensual sterilization to 支持する for reproductive 司法(官) - a theory she helped to create - 特に の中で women of color.

石/投石する, a transgender woman born in 1936, is considered a 創立者 of the academic discipline of transgender 熟考する/考慮するs and is 設立するing director of the 前進するd Communication 科学(工学)技術s Lab at the University of Texas at Austin. She (機の)カム to academics after a career as a sound engineer for Jimi Hendrix, the 感謝する Dead and other musicians in the 1960s and 1970s. Inductees are 指名するd by the public and 裁判官d by a パネル盤 of 専門家s across the 指名された人s' fields, によれば the 国家の Women´s Hall of Fame. The induction 儀式 is scheduled for Sept. 30.

"This wonderful 承認 by the 国家の Women´s Hall of Fame 栄誉(を受ける)s what the Hall sees as 継続している usefulness," McIntosh wrote. "I admire the values of the Hall in this year´s inductees. Each of us eight women tried to be of use, starting from where we were."
