Children lost in flooding as US 耐えるs extreme 天候, from smoke up north to heat in the West

WASHINGTON CROSSING, Pa. (AP) - Pennsylvania 当局 drew on 100 people, drones and cadaver dogs Monday in their search for two 行方不明の children whose family's car was swept away in flash flooding that 荒廃させるd the East Coast over the 週末. Other parts of the country 耐えるd threateningly 最高気温s and 厳しい 空気/公表する 汚染 from Canadian wildfires.

In eastern Pennsylvania, 当局 述べるd Monday's search for 行方不明の Matilda Sheils, 2, and her 9-month-old brother Conrad Sheils as a "大規模な 請け負うing" along a creek that drains into the Delaware River. The children are members of a Charleston, South Carolina, family that was visiting 親族s and friends when they got caught in a flash flood Saturday.

The children's father, Jim Sheils, grabbed their 4-year-old son, while the children's mother, Katie Seley, and a grandmother grabbed the other children, said Upper Makefield 郡区 解雇する/砲火/射撃 長,指導者 Tim Brewer. Sheils and his son made it to safety, but Seley and the grandmother were swept away.

Monsignor Michael Picard of St. Andrew Roman カトリック教徒 Church, where family members are parishioners, said he spoke with the grandparents Sunday.

"No 事柄 how long I´ve been doing this - over and over and over, many, many years - you find yourself still helpless and without words to make people feel more comfortable," Picard said. "And so you just 簡単に pray with them for a few minutes."
