US-born Sarina Bolden now a Women's World Cup 星/主役にする for the Philippines with winning goal

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) - Sarina Bolden rose above two defenders and 長,率いるd the ball toward the goal. New Zealand keeper Victoria Esson bobbled and fumbled it as it crossed the goal line.

Bolden pumped her 握りこぶし as she sprinted to the sideline to celebrate with her チーム仲間s after 得点する/非難する/20ing the first-ever goal at the Women´s World Cup for the Philippines, one that also made her team the first of 2023 版's eight newcomers to (人命などを)奪う,主張する a 勝利,勝つ. It was 1-0, but that's all the Filipinas needed to (警官の)巡回区域,受持ち区域 the Football Ferns.

"I´ll remember this moment forever, for the 残り/休憩(する) of my life," Bolden said after the match. "I´m so happy to be a part of it,"

The 27-year-old 今後 didn´t have a straightforward path to 代表するing the Philippines. Born in Santa Clara, California, Bolden spent her 早期に 冒険的な years playing for American 学院s.

Bolden joined the Philippines 国家の team in 2018 while she was playing for Loyola Marymount. She would go on to 調印する her first professional club 契約 in 2019 with Sandvikens IF in Sweden. After 出発/死ing Sweden, she spent time playing for teams in Taiwan, the 部隊d 明言する/公表するs, Japan and now Australia with the Western Sydney Wanderers.

"Just getting to experience all those 肉親,親類d of different styles, I think it´s made me into the サッカー player that I am today," Bolden said.

After the match, the Filipinas walked the length of the touchline behind the technical area in Sky Stadium, where thousands of fans celebrated the 勝利,勝つ as the players took a 屈服する in 前線 of them.

"I´ve just been learning that Filipinos are literally everywhere," Bolden said. "I think we´re a 広大な/多数の/重要な 代表 of what Filipinos are and we´re far and wide, But to 最高潮に達する everyone together and to get everyone on the same page is amazing."

Since she committed to the Philippines, Bolden has played in 37 international matches and 得点する/非難する/20d 22 goals.

This isn´t the first time that Bolden has been her country´s 星/主役にする, either. In her 上級の international debut for the Philippines, Bolde n 得点する/非難する/20d the game 勝利者 in a 2-1 victory over Jordan in the 2018 AFC Women´s Asian Cup. In the 2022 AFC Women´s Asian Cup, she 得点する/非難する/20d the last kick in a 刑罰,罰則 shootout against Taiwan that earned the Philippines a 位置/汚点/見つけ出す in the 2023 Women´s World Cup.
