Transgender swimmers to be 含むd in the 裁判，公判 of an open 部類 at 競争s
FUKUOKA, Japan (AP) - Swimming will 始める，決める up an "open 部類" that will 含む transgender competitors, the 治める／統治するing 団体／死体 of the sport said Tuesday.
World Aquatics 大統領，／社長 Husain Al-Musallam said the event would take place in the 未来 の中で other races but gave no 詳細（に述べる）s. 報告（する）／憶測s 示唆する it could be this year.
"This is a very コンビナート／複合体 topic," Al-Musallam said at the World Aquatics 議会 in the southwestern Japanese city of Fukuoka. "But I am delighted to tell you today that we are now making 計画（する）s for the first 裁判，公判 of an open 部類, and we hope to be able to 確認する all the 詳細（に述べる）s soon.
"Our sport must be open to everybody," he said.
World Aquatics had 以前 banned transgender competitors from major events like the Olympics and world 選手権s.

"It was very important that we 保護するd fair 競争 for our 女性（の） 競技者s," Al-Musallam said. "But you have heard me say many times there should be no 差別. Nobody should be 除外するd from our 競争s."
In March 2022, American swimmer Lia Thomas won the women's 500-yard 自由型 at the NCAA 選手権s in Atlanta, becoming the first transgender woman to （人命などを）奪う，主張する a 国家の t itle in swimming.
Thomas became a 主要な symbol of transgender 競技者s - stirring both 対立 and support - when she joined the University of Pennsylvania women´s swim team after competing for three years on the men´s squad at the Ivy League school.
