Europe's economy grows a bit after months of stagnation. But 率 引き上げ(る)s are 重さを計るing on 商売/仕事s

FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) - Europe´s economy has grown modestly after months of stagnation, but higher 利益/興味 率s designed to fight インフレーション are casting a 影をつくる/尾行する as they make it more expensive for 世帯s and 商売/仕事s to borrow, 投資する and spend.

The 20 countries that use the euro 通貨 and their 346 million people saw 0.3% growth in the April-to-June period, compared with the first three months of the year, the EU 統計(学) 機関 Eurostat 報告(する)/憶測d Monday.

That´s an 改良 over 無 growth in the first 4半期/4分の1 and a slight 拒絶する/低下する in fourth 4半期/4分の1 of last year - but not by much. 加える, one-time factors and an outsized bump from Ireland made things look better than they really were.

The eurozone got a 上げる by 0.5% growth in フラン and 0.4% in Spain, where lower インフレーション has helped 解除する 消費者 spending 力/強力にする.

Yet the French 人物/姿/数字 was 増加するd by the 配達/演説/出産 of one very large 製造(する)d item - a 巡航する ship. That 統計に基づく quirk flattered French growth but does little to disguise weak 需要・要求する for goods in the eurozone´s second-largest economy.

Ireland's growth of 3.3%, largest in the eurozone, also distorted the 全体にわたる picture. Its growth 人物/姿/数字s often show large swings 予定 to major international companies 住宅 their (警察,軍隊などの)本部 there, 含むing t ech 巨大(な)s like Meta, Google and Apple.

Without Ireland, euro-area growth would have been only 0.1%, said Franziska Palmas, 上級の Europe 経済学者 at 資本/首都 経済的なs.

The 全体にわたる 人物/姿/数字 "was driven by a few countr y idiosyncrasies and masks an underlying 勢い that is likely much closer to stagnation," said Marc de Muizon, 上級の European 分析家 at Deutsche Bank 研究.

Europe's largest economy, Germany, struggled in the second 4半期/4分の1, 記録,記録的な/記録するing 無 growth after two straight 4半期/4分の1s of 落ちるing 生産(高) as it grappled with high energy costs tied to Russia's war in ウクライナ共和国. Italy, the No. 3 economy, shrank by 0.3%.

The eurozone growth 人物/姿/数字s for the first 4半期/4分の1 were 改訂するd from a 拒絶する/低下する of 0.1%, statistically erasing what had been two straight 4半期/4分の1s of 収縮過程 - one 鮮明度/定義 of 後退,不況.

インフレーション in the eurozone, 一方/合間, continued its 漸進的な 拒絶する/低下する, 落ちるing to 5.3% in July from 5.5% in June.

Europe is still struggling with the aftershocks of Russia´s 侵略 of ウクライナ共和国, 含むing Moscow cutting off most of its natural gas to the continent that はっきりと raised prices for the 燃料 and the electricity it 生成するs.

In Germany, Europe´s 製造業の powerhouse, 副/悪徳行為 (ドイツなどの)首相/(大学の)学長 and Economy 大臣 Robert Habeck has 提案するd capping energy prices for 産業 with 政府 help.

The worst of the price spike is over, but costs are still higher than before the war began. Energy has faded as a main driver of インフレーション, but price rises are hitting Europeans when they shop for groceries, 着せる/賦与するs and more, and the 回復する for services companies - such as hotels and restaurants that 苦しむd during the COVID-19 pandemic - has mostly run its course.

Food prices rose 10.8% in July from a year earlier, an 改良 from June and previous months but still a 苦痛 point for 世帯s. Energy, 一方/合間, kept dropping, 落ちるing 6.1%. Stripping out volatile food and energy prices, 核心 インフレーション held 安定した at 5.5% - a 重要な 指示する人(物) that has not fallen as much as central 銀行業者s want.

In a 有望な 位置/汚点/見つけ出す for Europe, 回復するing travel, 特に in the Mediterranean countries that ひどく rely on 観光旅行,事業, is 推定する/予想するd to support growth in the 近づいている third 4半期/4分の1 as people flock to the beach for their summer holidays in Greece, Spain and Italy, にもかかわらず 最近の 熱波s and wildfires.

Other than that, prospects for the 残り/休憩(する) of the year are muted. Another drag on the economy is the 早い 一連の 利益/興味 率 増加するs that the European Central Bank has 抑えるのをやめるd to knock 負かす/撃墜する インフレーション.

The ECB made its ninth straight 引き上げ(る) Thursday, bringing its 重要な deposit 率 from minus 0.5% to 3.75% in just one year, a 記録,記録的な/記録する pace since the 創造 of the euro in 1999. The result has been higher mortgage 率s and 取り消すd construction 計画(する)s 予定 to expensive or unavailable credit.

The central bank´s lending 調査する shows the lowest level of 商売/仕事 貸付金s and credit lines since the 統計(学) started in 2003.

Bank 大統領 Christine Lagarde left open whether the bank will keep 引き上げ(る)ing 率s at its next 会合 on Sept. 14, 説 the 決定/判定勝ち(する) will depend on 後継の インフレーション data.

Since the 率 引き上げ(る)s began, インフレーション has 刻々と fallen from a 頂点(に達する) of 10.6% in October, but July's 人物/姿/数字 of 5.3% is still 井戸/弁護士席 above the ECB´s 2% 的.

Bank 公式の/役人s say 堅い 活動/戦闘 now will spare even more painful 制限 of credit later if インフレーション gets 完全に out of 支配(する)/統制する.
