味方する hustles take 中心 行う／開催する／段階 in 支払う／賃金ing 法案s for Hollywood 労働者s on strike
NEW YORK (AP) - Lighting for the entertainment 産業 is Ryan Meyer's lifeblood.
Before the Hollywood strikes, he worked 40 hours a week or more as a gaffer or director of photography. He also has a company that usually earns more than a million dollars a year in 生産／産物 support.
Most of that is gone, for now, 乾燥した，日照りのd up in the 契約 論争s that have led to months of picket lines by writers and actors. One day recently, the 50-year-old Meyer, who lives in Los Angeles, lit an actor's home foyer, "so when she opens the door," he said, "she looks good."
While waiting out the strikes, Meyer and many thousands of others in the 商売／仕事 are taking most any paycheck they can get, from 仲買人 Joe's to teaching to hitting up friends for 令状ing gigs. Some are turning hobbies into money. Anything to 支払う／賃金 the 法案s.
"We've become handymen," Meyer said. "My neighbor needed help with his Jacuzzi so we 力／強力にするd that up for him. Somebody else bought a trailer with a saw and is cutting people's firewood."
味方する hustles are nothing new to many actors and writers. Turning them into life support is the 問題／発行する now. That 含むs 産業 労働者s not striking but thrown out of work.

足緒 McLaren is a staff writer in Los Angeles for "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" and has written for the Oscars and the Emmys. As a hobby during the pandemic, he bought a 3D printer and began making cust om snow globes featuring the houses of loved ones. He 施し物d them out as gifts.
"They´ve become my 十分な time living, 基本的に," he said.
McLaren has sold about 40 custom snow globes since the writers went on strike, at $299 a piece, through his Etsy shop.
"I´ve made the 同等（の） of one 十分な mortgage 支払い（額） so far this month," he said. "I´m fully committed to snow globes 権利 now. No joke," he said.

As of Sept. 1, the 基金 has 分配するd about $6.5 million to about 3,100 film and TV 労働者s. It has 施し物d out $400,000 to $700,000 a week during the strikes, compared to an 普通の／平均（する） of $75,000 週刊誌 during the first half of 2023.
Cameo, a 場所／位置 where celebrities 記録，記録的な／記録する personalized ビデオ messages for fans, has seen 156% growth from July 15 to Sept. 1 from the same period a year ago. Since the writers strike began, 3,124 people joined or 反動的なd their Cameo accounts, the company said.
Meyer, with most of his six staff and 70 or so 衛星 乗組員 members on furlough, 直面するs a 二塁打 whammy. His company was once routinely busy on 商業のs, which is work not 衝撃d by the strike. Now, with that market flooded with new 競争 submitting miniscule 予算 企て，努力，提案s, he can't compete.
"Now it's, `What 法案s get paid this month and what doesn´t,'" he said.
It's been nearly five months since members of the Writers Guild of America stopped working, and just over two months since the actors union joined them in their fight against studios and streamers.

"She called and I was able to 選ぶ up some 協議するing and 令状ing. It's for her 研究 as part of a fellowship. I have a 博士号. She's 支払う／賃金ing me, thank God," Monroe said.
Monroe appeared in the recently 取り消すd reboot of "The Wonder Years" and wrapped an 近づいている movie starring Vince Vaughn. In the 商売／仕事 for 13 years, she remains on her union's health 保険 and has enough banked hours to 保存する her ニュース報道 for a while longer.
With the help of her sorority sister, Monroe won't have to touch her 貯金.

Covarrubias considers herself lucky. Her French husband, who she supported while he 追求するd a work ビザ, now has that in 手渡す and is able to earn. His salary is about $50,000 a year. They 支払う／賃金 her parents about $1,500 a month in rent.
"He reminds me every day, you were there for me. I´m here for you now. But, you know, we're still struggling," she said.
