PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - New England's long-shuttered shrimp 商売/仕事, which fell 犠牲者 to warming waters, will remain in a fishing 支払い猶予/一時停止 無期限に/不明確に, 漁業 regulators 支配するd on Friday.

The shrimping 商売/仕事 was based mostly in Maine and produced small, pink shrimp that were a winter delicacy in New England and across the country. The 産業 has been in a 支払い猶予/一時停止 since 2013 in large part because 環境の 条件s off New England are unfavorable for the 冷淡な water-loving shrimp.

That 支払い猶予/一時停止 will remain in 影響 with no 会社/堅い end date, a board of the regulatory 大西洋 明言する/公表するs 海洋 漁業s (売買)手数料,委託(する)/委員会/権限 投票(する)d Friday. The board stopped short of calling the move a 永久の 支払い猶予/一時停止 because it 含むd a 準備/条項 to continue 監視するing the shrimp 全住民 and consider 再開するing the 漁業 if the crustaceans approach a healthy level.

But it was (疑いを)晴らす board members saw little chance of a 未来 for a 漁業 that once 供給するd a beloved seafood item that appeared on restaurant menus and in seafood markets every year around Christmas.

"I think we´re all done here with this 在庫/株. I see the water 気温s. I don´t think we´re coming 支援する," said マイク Armstrong, an 環境の 分析家 and member of the パネル盤.

Previous 拡張s of the shrimp fishing 支払い猶予/一時停止 have been for one year or three years at a time. However, the shrimp 在庫/株 isn´t showing 調印するs of 改良, said Chelsea Tuohy, a 漁業 管理/経営 計画(する) 調整者/コーディネーター for the (売買)手数料,委託(する)/委員会/権限.

"Recently, under no fishing mortality, the 全住民 continues to 拒絶する/低下する," Tuohy said. "The 湾 of Maine is warming quicker than other areas of the ocean, and the shrimp tend not to do 井戸/弁護士席 in warming waters."

The 商業の 漁業 for the New England shrimp, which are also called Maine shrimp or pink shrimp, was 設立するd in the 1950s and 頂点(に達する)d at nearly 30 million 続けざまに猛撃するs (13.6 million キログラムs) per year in the late 1960s, 大西洋 明言する/公表するs (売買)手数料,委託(する)/委員会/権限 文書s 明言する/公表する. Canadian fishermen have long 収穫d the same 種類 of shrimp as New England fishermen, and their 輸出(する)s of the shrimp are still いつかs 設立する in U.S. seafood markets.

Some U.S. fishermen have 支持するd trying to save New England's shrimp 漁業 with new 管理/経営 approaches. Glen Libby, a former shrimp トロール船, said regulators need to gather more data before taking 激烈な measur es to の近くに a historic 漁業.

The shrimp パネル盤 also 投票(する)d to 調査/捜査する the 可能性 of an 産業-based 研究 program about the 漁業.

"A lot of people, mostly in the 産業, don't think that we have a 完全にする picture of what's going on," Libby said. "Let's not open it up, let's just have a 限られた/立憲的な season. There's a hunger for more data, that's for sure."
