誓い Keepers' son 現れるs from traumatic childhood to tell his own story in a long 発射 選挙 企て，努力，提案
KALISPELL, Mont. (AP) - The eldest son of one of America´s most 悪名高い seditionists is building a new life since breaking 解放する／自由な from his father's 支配（する）／統制する - juggling work, college classes and volunteer firefighting.
And Dakota Adams has 投げ上げる／ボディチェックするd one more ball in the 空気／公表する this year: a Democratic （選挙などの）運動をする for Montana's 立法機関.
He also 計画（する）s to sell the ライフル銃／探して盗むs, 団体／死体 armor and 戦術の gear he used to wear to anti-政府 抗議するs と一緒に his father - Stewart Rhodes, 創立者 of the 誓い Keepers. It's all part of an 成果／努力 to 押し進める away the last 痕跡s of what Adams 述べるs as an 孤立するing and abusive しつけ that nearly 廃虚d him, his mother and his siblings.
"I decided that I´m going to 二塁打 負かす／撃墜する on betting on the 選挙（人）の 過程," Adams said in a 最近の interview.
Adams knows it won´t be 平易な running as a 民主党員 for the House in the 深い red northwestern corner of Montana. The 地区 covers northern Lincoln 郡, a mecca for 民兵 members or sympathizers and doomsday preppers. 共和国の／共和党の Donald Trump won 74% of the 郡 投票（する） in the 2020 大統領の race.
While Adams' （選挙などの）運動をする may look like a fruitless 請け負うing, he doesn't see it that way. For him it's a chance to tell his own story - that of an "honest weirdo" who 現れるd from a traumatic childhood to find his own way in life. It's also a chance to make the 事例／患者 for his own 見通し of how 僕主主義 and personal 責任／義務 intertwine.

Adams, who uses his mother's maiden 指名する and 言及するs to Rhodes only by his first 指名する, was raised in the 影をつくる／尾行する of one of the nation's most 悪名高い 共謀 理論家s.
Rhodes 卒業生（する）d from Yale with a 法律 degree, but Adams called him lazy, paranoid and a grifter who had an 誇張するd sense of his own importance as a 脅し to the 政府. Rhodes started 誓い Keepers in 2009 after 民主党員 Barack Obama was elected 大統領，／社長.
In their lives, as Adams tells it, Rhodes had his family living in constant 恐れる that the 政府 was 秘かに調査するing on them and that the apocalypse was always just months away. Rhodes 破壊行為d his children's home schooling and wouldn´t let them speak about their home lives in public, Adams said.
Rhodes´ "leadership" of the 誓い Keepers was inconsistent, even erratic, Adams said. Rhodes 燃やすd 橋（渡しをする）s with members, 同様に as with 雇用者s and creditors, 主要な to repeated moves for the family of eight.
"基本的に until I´m an adult it´s all one continuous gray time of 生き残り and moving boxes," Adams said. "We lived in extreme 孤立／分離 in one particular cultural 泡 in ますます paranoid and 交戦的な 右翼 political spheres everywhere we moved in the country, until 結局 we ended up in Montana."
They escaped Rhodes in 2018, when Tasha Adams とじ込み／提出するd for 離婚.

Adams, now 27, has spent his 早期に adult years catching up on his education and 参加するing in therapy to learn about the "long-称する，呼ぶ／期間／用語 影響s of living in a 有毒な or dysfunctional 世帯." His goal, he said, has been "人物／姿／数字ing myself out."
He´s working in construction and taking college classes with a 計画（する） to 熟考する／考慮する political science.
While he read voraciously - mostly history - Adams didn´t learn his times （米）棚上げする／（英）提議するs until he was 19, so he could pass a high school equivalency exam.
"I don´t think I´ll ever be fully caught up to where I would have been in life if I´d had a 半分-normal childhood," he said.
He's gotten 激励 in his 企て，努力，提案 for the 立法機関 from 民主党員s, and some 投票者s in his 地区 have agreed to put 調印するs in their yard. Scott Rodich, the 副／悪徳行為 議長，司会を務める of the 郡 Democratic Central 委員会, said 民主党員s have been hesitant to run in the 共和国の／共和党の 要塞／本拠地, so party leaders are glad to have Adams on the 投票（する）.
Adams has also appeared at （機の）カム paign events with Democratic 州知事の 候補者 Ryan Busse. Adams met former Montana Gov. Steve Bullock, one of the 明言する／公表する's most 目だつ 民主党員s, at the party´s Mansfield-Metcalf dinner, and 設立する it "incredibly weird" that Bullock knew who he was.
"It いつかs feels very unreal, because I have a normal life 95% of the time. And then 5% of the time, my personal life is 関連した to a 国家の news story," Adams said. "The disconnect feels incredibly strange."
Adams sees politics as an 拡張 of community service, like his work with a volunteer 解雇する／砲火／射撃 department and 存在 a responsible gun owner. He owns a ピストル, but doesn't carry it because he hasn't kept up with his training.
"American gun culture needs to be rehabilitated from an egotistical and vanity-based, hyper-individualist ego trip culture to civil service and solemn 責任／義務 to the community," he said.

That may seem out of step with the 保守的な 投票者s Adams is 法廷，裁判所ing, but it's who he is.
"I have 辞退するd to トン any of this 負かす／撃墜する since deciding to run for office," Adams said, gesturing at his 着せる／賦与するing, "because I spent so long as a child 適合するing to a little character to 高める my father´s political ambitions and image that I 辞退するd to do it ever again for any 推論する／理由."
運動ing home the point, he said: "I feel like 存在 an honest weirdo is a lot better to a lot of people than 存在 a Spirit Halloween cowboy when you´re asking for their 投票（する）."
Adams feels he might be able to sway far-権利 投票者s as 民主党員s try to 削減（する） into the GOP supermajority in the 立法機関.
"I'm not starting out from a place of attacking anybody for what they believe," he said. "Because of how I grew up, I understand a lot of the lexicon."
Adams tries to turn conversations away from cultural and social 問題／発行するs to more practical 関心s such as 住宅 costs, rising 所有物／資産／財産 税金s, インフレーション and abortion 権利s.
"There has to be a 一貫した 注目する，もくろむ on 確実にするing that people can afford to still live here who are not moving in with $200,000-a-year remote 職業s," he said. "If it's too expensive to build a life in Montana, then everybody who's trying to do that is going to leave."
He said the 明言する／公表する needs a 計画（する） to 対処する with growth so it won't be "消費するd by 都市の sprawl and ゴルフ courses."
Adams is 現実主義の about his chances of winning. He said his 対抗者, 共和国の／共和党の Rep. Neil Duram, has a "solid 評判" and even got Adams' 投票（する） in 2022.
So Adams has his 注目する，もくろむ on a threshold 始める，決める by Bullock, who received 37% of the 投票（する）s cast in Lincoln 郡 in 2016. But even if he doesn't 会合，会う it, he says he'll be 支援する.
