INSIDE KOBANI: 荒廃 mixed with 楽観主義

KOBANI, Syria (AP) ― 封鎖するs of low-rise buildings with hollow facades, 粉々にするd 固める／コンクリート, streets strewn with がれき and overturned, crumpled remains of cars and トラックで運ぶs. Such is the landscape in Kobani, where the sounds of ライフル銃／探して盗む and 迫撃砲解雇する／砲火／射撃 resonate all day long in fighting between Islamic 明言する／公表する極端論者s and the Syrian town's Kurdish defenders.

There, Kurdish 闘士，戦闘機s 支援するd by small numbers of Iraqi peshmerga 軍隊s and Syrian 反逆者／反逆するs, are locked in what they see as an existential 戦う／戦い against the 交戦的なs, who swept into their town in 中央の-September as part of a summer blitz after the Islamic 明言する／公表する group overran large parts of Syria and 隣接地の Iraq.

Helped by more than 270 airstrikes from a U.S.-led 連合 and an American 空中投下 of 武器s, the Kurds have 後継するd in 停止（させる）ing the 交戦的なs' 前進する and now believe that a corner has been turned.

Several 闘士，戦闘機s with the YPG, the main Kurdish fighting 軍隊, spoke confidently of a coming victory. Jamil Marzuka, a 上級の指揮官, said the fighting has "entered a new 段階" in the last week.

"We can tell everyone, not just those on the 前線 lines, that we are 製図／抽選 up the necessary 策略 and 計画（する）s to 解放する the city," he said.

A YPG 闘士，戦闘機, who identified himself only by his first 指名する, Pozul, said only small pockets of 交戦的なs remain. Still, he said he and other 闘士，戦闘機s must remain 用心深い as they move around because Islamic 明言する／公表する狙撃者s lurk まっただ中に th e 廃虚s and the 交戦的なs have ばか者-罠にかける buildings they left behind.

"They are scattered so as to give us the impression that there are a lot of them, but there are not," he said.

The Kurds' （人命などを）奪う，主張するs of 切迫した victory may be 極端に ambitious. But the AP's 報告（する）／憶測ing has 設立する that the Islamic 明言する／公表する group's 運動 has at least been blunted. Hundreds of 交戦的なs have been killed, most of them by airstrikes.

On Friday, 行動主義者s said IS 交戦的なs withdrew from large parts of the いわゆる Kurdish 安全４半期/4分の1, an eastern 地区 where Kurdish militiamen 持続する安全 buildings and offices. 交戦的なs had 掴むd the area last month.

Zardasht Kobani, a 26-year-old YPG 部隊指揮官, has been fighting day and night for weeks. Often he and his fellow 闘士，戦闘機s were short on 弾薬／武器 and sleep, he said. Now he feels an important victory at is at 手渡す. The 戦う／戦い of Kobani has had a 決定的な symbolism for both 味方するs.

He said the 交戦的なs have failed in Kobani and are looking for a way out.

"But IS knows that escaping from Kobani will （一定の）期間 their downfall," he said.
