TIRANA, Albania (AP) ― Sgt. John Thompson, a British World War II special 操作／手術 flight engineer, was considered 行方不明の in 活動／戦闘 for more than 70 years. Not anymore.
On Monday, his 92-year-old sister Dorothy Webster received his （犯罪の）一味 from a family in Albania together with a box of 破片 from his Halifax 爆撃機. The 計画（する）, with a seven-member 乗組員 onboard, had 衝突，墜落d in the eastern European country on Oct. 29, 1944 whilst 輸送（する）ing 援助 to 地元の anti-Nazi 闘士，戦闘機s.
In 1960, late Jaho Cala 設立する Thompson's finger with the （犯罪の）一味 at the Sinoi Mountain, 40 キロメーターs (25 miles) north of the Albanian 資本／首都 Tirana. He kept the （犯罪の）一味 and hid it at his home, afraid to show it to the then-共産主義者 当局.

Cala asked his son Xhemil to look for the family of the owner and after he died, Xhemil 接触するd the 大使館s of the U.S. and Britain ― the two countries that helped 解放する Albania from the Nazis a month after Thompson's death.
After three months, the British 大使館 確認するd the （犯罪の）一味 was Thompson's and told his family and the families of the other six 乗組員 members.
"70 years we've waited. We can't believe that we're here today celebrating this after all this time," said Webster, who was …を伴ってd by other family members at a 儀式 at the Albanian 弁護 省. "My father would have been thrilled to pieces with it all."
"All these years it has been a story of loss," said one of her sons, Alan Webster. "We now know almost everything that happened. It's a sense of 終結. We know where John is. He's over there in the mountain."
Alan's brother Brian Webster said their grandparents never locked their house in Matlock, Derbyshire 郡, in the Britain because they were waiting for their 行方不明になるd son. British 当局 never told them anything about Thompson because he was part of "a secret 操作／手術 in Albania," the family said.
After the U.S. and U.K. 大使館s started to piece together bits of 証拠 surrounding the （犯罪の）一味 it 現れるd that the 初期のs "Joyce & John" engraved inside it belonged to Thompson and his newly-wedded wife, Joyce.
Joyce married again after losing John and Webster family members said she had already passed away.
