Chad and Niger 軍隊/機動隊s attack Nigeria's Boko Haram 極端論者s

N'DJAMENA, Chad (AP) ― 兵士s from Chad and Niger 開始する,打ち上げるd the largest international 押し進める to 敗北・負かす Nigeria's Islamic 極端論者s whose war has 流出/こぼすd over into 隣接地の countries, 公式の/役人s and 証言,証人/目撃するs said Monday. Chad's 大統領,/社長 has 警告するd that the leader of Boko Haram must 降伏する or be killed.

At least 200 乗り物s 十分な of 兵士s were spotted by 居住(者)s crossing from Niger into Nigeria. Loud detonations were soon heard, signaling 激しい 戦闘 with Boko Haram, said Adam Boukarna, a 居住(者) of the 国境 town of Bosso, Niger.

The 押し進める 示すs a sharp escalation by African nations against Boko Haram nearly six years after the group began its insurrection. At an African Union 首脳会議 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on Jan. 31, African leaders agreed to send 7,500 軍隊/機動隊s to fight Boko Haram. Later 隣接地の countries agreed to 増加する the 軍隊 to 8,750. U.N. 長官 General 禁止(する) Ki Moon has said he supports the AU's move.

The new 不快な/攻撃 含むs 軍隊/機動隊s from Niger for the first time, in 新規加入 to Chadian 軍隊s that were already carrying out 使節団s in Nigeria, Chadian Brig. Gen. Zakaria Ngobongue said Monday. He 述べるd extremism as a "癌" in the 地域 that could not be 敗北・負かすd by any one country alone.

"They are 強盗団の一味 and 犯罪のs who have nothing to do with 宗教," Ngobongue said, speaking to reporters after the の近くにing 儀式 for Flintlock, an 年次の training 演習 in 反対する-暴動 策略 伴う/関わるing some 20 countries.

U.S. Army Gen. David M. Rodriguez, 指揮官 of the U.S. Africa 命令(する) which sponsored the 演習, 公式文書,認めるd here on Monday that the Islamic 謀反のs have been operating not very far from this dusty 資本/首都: The group has carried out attacks on this year as の近くに as about 150 キロメーターs (90 miles) away. N'Djamena is about 30 キロメーターs (18 miles) from the Nigerian 国境.

"We find this year's 演習 both unique and 関連した because as you know ... we are not far from the 即座の 脅し of Boko Haram," the American general, who had earlier 命令(する)d U.S. 軍の 軍隊s in Afghanistan, told reporters.

Nigeria and its 同盟(する)s will 敗北・負かす Boko Haram, said マイク Omeri, the Nigerian 政府 広報担当者 on the 暴動.

Boko Haram's 告示 over the 週末 that it is (v)提携させる(n)支部,加入者d to the Islamic 明言する/公表する 極端論者 group "is an 行為/法令/行動する of desperation and comes at a time when Boko Haram is 苦しむing 激しい losses at the 手渡すs of the Nigerian 武装した 軍隊s and its 地域の partners," said Omeri. "The fact of the 事柄 is that Nigeria and its neighbors are やじ Boko Haram out of its 要塞/本拠地s and degrading its 戦闘 abilities."

The new 不快な/攻撃 comes just weeks before Nigerians 持つ/拘留するs 選挙s many 恐れる will be marred by 暴力/激しさ, 含むing from Boko Haram. The March 28 選挙 was already 延期するd from Feb. 14 to enable 安全 軍隊s to 伸び(る) 支配(する)/統制する of a wide 列 of northeast Nigeria where Boko Haram has roamed 公正に/かなり 自由に, 殺人,大当り and kidnapping 非軍事のs with Nigeria's once-strong 軍の becoming unable to 答える/応じる. Boko Haram's leader has 脅すd to violently 混乱に陥れる/中断させる the 投票(する) and 交戦的なs have 警告するd those in the northeast not to take part.

Nigeria's 大統領 Goodluck Jonathan is running for re-選挙 and 直面するing 広大な/多数の/重要な 圧力 to 敗北・負かす a grou p that has killed thousands of 非軍事のs through 自殺 爆破s 的ing markets and schools. Boko Haram wants Nigeria ― Africa's most populous nation ― turned into a hard-line Islamic 明言する/公表する. Jonathan has reluctantly agreed to the foreign help from Nigeria's neighbors, a humiliation for the country that already had Africa's biggest 軍の 軍隊 but whose 軍隊/機動隊s are underequipped and demoralized, with corrupt officers 恐らく siphoning off 器具/備品 and money.

Some 分析家s think the goal of 安定させるing the northeast before the 選挙 will be difficult to reach.

"I don't think in six weeks they can do what they 港/避難所't been able to do in six years, but they have made 前進するs and 進歩 and it's that 進歩 he (Jonathan) is very keen to show," said Adekeye Adebajo, the Nigerian (n)役員/(a)執行力のある director of the Cape Town-based 中心 for 衝突 決意/決議.

Boko Haram is 非難するd for 殺人,大当り at least 10,000 people in the last year alone. The 暴力/激しさ in Nigeria has 軍隊d more than 1 million people to 逃げる, 含むing 100,000 to Niger, 40,000 to Cameroon and some 18,000 to Chad.

Hadisa Musa, 50, managed to escape the Boko Haram attack on the Nigerian town of Doro but only after seeing her son 発射 to death. She managed to spare his two children by hiding them underneath her on the ground.

Her 6-year-old grandson and 9-year-old granddaughter now stay with her in a 難民 テント in Chad, after the trio spent three nights and three days in a canoe crossing Lake Chad to safety.

Her 注目する,もくろむs moisten as she recounts their voyage, and she then pulls the fabric of her abaya up around her 直面する, mumbling her words through the fabric.

As for the men who killed her son and scattered her family: "I don't even want to hear t 相続人 指名する."

Boko Haram began 開始する,打ち上げるing attacks across the 国境 into Cameroon earlier this year. Its 闘士,戦闘機s later struck at Niger, 続けざまに猛撃するing the town of Diffa several days over the course of several days. And then on Feb. 13, jihadists in 木造の boats (機の)カム 岸に to Chad where they たいまつd homes and killed at least eight 非軍事のs.

When the war (機の)カム to those countries, the mostly 貧窮化した Nigerians who had fled Boko Haram 暴力/激しさ 支援する home were traumatized as they (機の)カム under attack once again.

Chad's leader has 公約するd that Boko Haram and its leader Abubakar Shekau will be 敗北・負かすd one way or another. Chadian 軍隊/機動隊s on March 2 掴むd the Nigerian town of Dikwa from Boko Haram, 大統領 Idriss Deby 公式文書,認めるd.

"He escaped 司法(官) during the taking of Dikwa by the Chadian army," Idriss told reporters last week. "But we know where he is. And if he 辞退するs to 降伏する he will 直面する the same 運命/宿命 as the others who 死なせる/死ぬd in their 敗北・負かす at Dikwa."
