Turkish MP: US, Canadian med students の中で group in Syria

ISTANBUL (AP) ― A Turkish 対立 国会議員 said Monday that an American and a Canadian are の中で a group of doctors and 医療の students believed to have traveled from Turkey into 領土 in Syria controlled by the Islamic 明言する/公表する group.

Mehmet Ali Ediboglu said Monday the group consists of 11 people of Sudanese origin, seven British 国民s, two Sudanese, one American and one Canadian.

He had 以前 told The Associated 圧力(をかける) that the group consisted of nine British 医療の students and doctors.

The 国会議員 is helping family members of the group, who are in Turkey trying to find them. They believe the students have gone to Syria to 供給する 医療の 援助.

A Turkish 公式の/役人, who spoke on 条件 of anonymity because of 支配するs 要求するing 事前の authorization to speak to the マスコミ, said Turkish police are working on the 問題/発行する and 協力するing with British 当局.

Ediboglu said ten of the students arrived in Istanbul from Khartoum, Sudan, 早期に on March 12 and the Canadian arrived from Toronto. He said the group of 11 were all friends, and eight of them had 卒業生(する)d from 医療の school while three were about to finish.

The group spent a night in Istanbul, he said, before taking a bus to a southern 州. Ediboglu said he 嫌疑者,容疑者/疑うs they crossed into Syria from the Turkish 国境 town of Akcakale, across from Islamic 明言する/公表する group 領土, on March 13 or 14.

Members of the group have sent text messages to the families 説 they are 罰金, he 追加するd.

"They say 'We're at the hospital 扱う/治療するing 患者s,'" he said and the families took that to mean that they are in Syria.

British member of 議会, Henry Bellingham, told the AP that one of the young women who entered Syria was the daughter of a 尊敬(する)・点d 外科医 at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital at King's Lynn, in England.

He said that the young woman had been "radicalized and 偉業/利用するd and swept away by other students" at the 医療の school in Khartoum.

Bellingham said Britain's Foreign Office has been in touch with them.

"It's going to be very difficult to do anything," he said. "It's a really dangerous 状況/情勢 and it's possible their lives are in danger."

He said the "空気/公表する strikes are trying to 避ける the main hospitals," 示唆するing the medics might not be in areas coming under attack by 連合 軍隊s. But he 追加するd he "wouldn't put it past IS" to (軍隊を)展開する,配備する them in villages where they would be 攻撃を受けやすい to attack.
