Possible Biden 企て，努力，提案 for White House 直面するs rough road
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) ― The only trace of the 副／悪徳行為 大統領，／社長 （機の）カム on a candy wrapper.
Joe Biden may be considering whether to enter the race for 大統領，／社長, but he sat out last week's 会合 of the Democratic 国家の 委員会. In his place, 支援者s 迎える／歓迎するd a curious few in a hotel 控訴 20 床に打ち倒すs above the 公式の／役人 集会, 手渡すing out chocolate 妨げる／法廷，弁護士業s wrapped with a stylized photo of Biden behind the wheel of a 転換できる and an "I'm Ridin' with Biden" label.
In any other year, a sitting 副／悪徳行為 大統領，／社長 would have headlined such a 会合 as the 激しい favorite for the party's 指名／任命. Instead, the 集会 served as proof that if Biden choses to run, he'll do so as an underdog to Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Clinton's years-long flirtation with a second White House （選挙などの）運動をする ― time her 同盟（する）s used to lock up support of much of the Democratic Party's leadership ― and her 否定できない political celebrity have upended the 伝統的な script. Rather than 相続するing his party's machine, a Biden （選挙などの）運動をする would have to find a way to take it 支援する.
"長官 Clinton's folks have been talking to these people for a very, very long time," said Vermont Sen. Bernie やすりを削る人／削る機械s, whose vibrant （人が）群がるs and 安定した 投票 numbers make him Clinton's strongest 現在の 挑戦者. "So she has a 抱擁する advantage."
Yet Biden's 支持者s see an 開始, 予定 in no small part to Clinton's 無（不）能 to shake questions about her use of a personal email server while serving as 長官 of 明言する／公表する. His candor, long history of fighting for Democratic 原因（となる）s and personal struggles ― a widower at a young age now grieving over the 最近の death of his son Beau ― make him an admired 人物／姿／数字 in the party.
"He's one of us. He gets it," said Jon Cooper, a 支持者 who this summer began working with a group encouraging Biden to enter the race. "Everybody likes Joe Biden."
That group, a 最高の PAC 指名するd 草案 Biden, is a blend of Chicago-based fans of the 副／悪徳行為 大統領，／社長 and political operatives with 関係 to his family. It sent five 従業員s to the DNC 会合, emailing attendees and passing out fliers in hallways to 招待する people to their プロの／賛成の-Biden hotel 控訴.
A total of about 75 （機の）カム to four open-house 開会／開廷／会期s, said Josh Alcorn, a former 補佐官 to Beau Biden who joined the group with the family's blessing.
"People seemed excited about the 可能性 and were willing to take a look," he said.
Some 民主党員s who heard the pitch asked to stay in touch. Others remained skeptical.
"I asked them, 'What's his path?'" said Mitchell Ceasar, a Florida 弁護士／代理人／検事 and party operative. Their answer ― that he could cobble together 投票（する）s from all sorts of Democratic 連合s ― 誘発するd a shrug.
"The challenge to the 副／悪徳行為 大統領，／社長 is to 現在の a 説得力のある argument why someone should get on a different train, a different train that's going in the same direction," he said.
The practicalities of running also remain difficult for the 副／悪徳行為 大統領，／社長. His 支持者s say he must decide before the first Democratic 審議, in 中央の-October.
While Biden has no （選挙などの）運動をする 操作／手術 beyond the small 草案 Biden group, Clinton has for months built a sprawling machine of hundreds of 従業員s working out of her Brooklyn （選挙などの）運動をする （警察，軍隊などの）本部 and in dozens of offices across the country. Her 見解／翻訳／版 of 草案 Biden, a since-shuttered outside group called Ready for Hillary, spent years before Clinton got into the race amassing millions of email 演説（する）／住所s of 可能性のある 支持者s.
Money is another challenge. Biden 代表するd the small 明言する／公表する of Delaware in the 上院 and has never raised 重要な sums for his own （選挙などの）運動をするs. 草案 Biden, just a few months old, raised いっそう少なく th an $100,000 through the end of June. While 支持者s say bigger checks have been rolling in recently, Clinton is a former first lady and 上院議員 from New York with a strong fundraising history. In the first three months of her （選挙などの）運動をする, she raised $45 million for the 最初の／主要な contest alone.

Clinton 支援者s, who sported gold "H'' lapel pins at the DNC 会合s, were rewarded for their 忠義 with 招待s to 私的な 要点説明s from Clinton and 最高の，を越す （選挙などの）運動をする 公式の／役人s.
Several hundred Democratic 委任する／代表s who 調印するd cards 誓約（する）ing to support her mingled 頂上に a 超高層ビル in downtown Minneapolis Thursday night. Clinton talked for about 15 minutes, 製図／抽選 元気づけるs when she 保証するd them, "I'm not a quitter."
Ed Cote, a Washington 明言する／公表する Democratic leader and a Clinton admirer, said that event was a perfect example of why Biden would find himself in a tougher 最初の／主要な than a sitting 副／悪徳行為 大統領，／社長 might 推定する／予想する.
"Most of the people there have 投票（する）s on the first 投票（する）s, and they're solidly with her," Cote said. "She's doing 正確に／まさに what she needs to be doing."
Clinton learned the importance of that support in 2008, when she ended her long, hard-fought 最初の／主要な （選挙などの）運動をする after it became （疑いを）晴らす she 欠如（する）d enough 委任する／代表s to 逮捕（する） the 指名／任命.
"We are working really hard to lock in as many 支持者s as possible," Clinton said Friday. "This is really about how you put the numbers together to 安全な・保証する the 指名／任命."
