Peter Sagan (人命などを)奪う,主張するs 小旅行する yellow jersey after 行う/開催する/段階 勝利,勝つ

CHERBOURG-EN-COTENTIN, フラン (AP) ― Strangely, Peter Sagan did not celebrate his first 小旅行する de フラン yellow jersey with his trademark wheelie.

He did not even pump his 握りこぶし or raise his 武器 as he crossed the finish line on Sunday to end a three-year winless run at cycling's showpiece race.

That wasn't because of the misfortune 耐えるd by his チーム仲間 Alberto Contador, who fell off his bike for the second 連続した day and lost precious time in the 戦う/戦い の中で the race favorites.

The world 支持する/優勝者 簡単に didn't know he had won the 行う/開催する/段階.

"I'm very surprised I won, because I was thinking there were still two guys in 前線," said Sagan, who made the most of a 法外な, short climb in a frenzied finale to 勝利,勝つ the second 行う/開催する/段階 of the 小旅行する in Normandy.

It was Sagan's fifth 行う/開催する/段階 勝利,勝つ on a 小旅行する, and his first since 2013.

Having been 非難するd いつかs for poor 策略 ― he has been a 走者-up in 16 小旅行する 行う/開催する/段階s, Sagan used his raw 力/強力にする on the 1.9-キロメーター Cote de la Glacerie 主要な to the finish line to (人命などを)奪う,主張する the 勝利,勝つ.

He waited 根気よく in the wake of Julian Alaphilippe, who started the final sprint, before タイミング his acceleration to perfection to 追いつく the Frenchman and 勝利,勝つ by a bike's length.

A debutant at the 小旅行する, Alaphilippe was second in the 183-キロメーター 行う/開催する/段階 between Saint-Lo and Cherbourg-en-Cotentin, with Spaniard Alejandro Valverde in third place.

Sagan, who already has four best (短距離で)速く走る人's green jerseys to his 指名する and won the 小旅行する of Flanders classic earlier this season, also (人命などを)奪う,主張するd the lead in the points standings.

"In big races, experience counts," he said. "I did a lot of sacrifices to come to the 小旅行する de フラン in good form but it's never 平易な to 勝利,勝つ, even if it looks 平易な いつかs."

On a day of mixed fortunes for the Tinkoff team, Contador 衝突,墜落d again and was dropped in the final climb, l osing 48 seconds.

"I'm 肉体的に 妨害するd," Contador said. "I cannot pedal as I would as the result of the 衝突,墜落s. The important thing is to keep my 意気込み/士気, not 落ちる apart, which is いつかs 複雑にするd. Both 脚s are very roughed up."

After just two days of racing, the 小旅行する has already been marred by several 衝突,墜落s, a problem that Sagan に例えるd to the all-危険 approach in the peloton.

"Nobody cares, it looks like riders have lost their brains," he said. "When I started in cycling in 2010, there was 尊敬(する)・点, and when somebody was doing something stupid we would throw 瓶/封じ込めるs at him. Today nobody ブレーキs. So I'm in yellow, but tomorrow I can go home."

ベルギー Jasper Stuyven, who was part of an 早期に 脱退/分離 group that formed after the start of the 行う/開催する/段階, almost 妨害するd Sagan's 計画(する)s when he tried to go for a 単独の 勝利,勝つ, but was reined in with 500 メーターs left.

夜通し leader 示す Cavendish finished just behind BMC co-leader Richie Porte, who was の中で the big losers of day, crossing the finish line 1 minute and 45 seconds behind Sagan after a 穴をあける.

Cavendish started the day with a four-second lead over Marcel Kittel, with Sagan in third place, six seconds behind. The Slovak rider now has an 8-second lead over Alaphilippe, with Valverde in third place 10 seconds 支援する. Chris Froome, last year's 小旅行する 勝利者, is fifth 全体にわたる after Sunday's 行う/開催する/段階, 14 seconds behind Sagan.

All 198 riders took the start in Saint-Lo under grey skies but Cavendish brought a splash of color to the scene.

Wearing yellow for the first time, the Briton 示すd the special occasion with a customized bike featuring yellow handlebar and pedals.

Stu yven and three other riders すぐに broke away from the peloton on slippery roads 近づく the English Channel as rain started to 落ちる. A 衝突,墜落 分裂(する) the main peloton in two after 60 キロメーターs. Spaniard Joaquim Rodriguez and Contador, who 苦しむd 削減(する)s and bruises on his 権利 shoulder in a 衝突,墜落 during 行う/開催する/段階 1, were の中で the riders caught up in the 出来事/事件.

Contador fell on the same shoulder and was 軍隊d to change bike. He was helped 支援する into the pack by five Tinkoff チーム仲間s as the pace slowed 負かす/撃墜する at the 前線.

There were some 幅の広い smiles on the riders' 直面するs as the sun finally broke through the clouds with 100 キロメーターs left, 乾燥した,日照りのing the roads and warming 団体/死体s in the peloton.

The pace in the bunch barely moved until 55 キロメーターs to go when Cavendish's Dimension Data outfit started to 押し進める 今後.

The peloton's chase started a bit late, as the final 戦う/戦い 形態/調整d up with rain 落ちるing again and Stuyven almost upseting all the favorites.

"I felt a little bit empty on the 法外な part," said Stuyven, who made his 打開 last year when he won a 行う/開催する/段階 at the Spanish Vuelta. "Unfortunately, I was 450 メーターs short."
