アイスランド makes a little go a very long way
SAINT-DENIS, フラン (AP) ― アイスランド left with 長，率いるs held high. 同様に they should.
The fairytale of an island of 330,000 people, 侵略するing Europe with gutsy football and fabulous fans, was always going to end いつか, because logic dictated that at some point the underdog darlings of the European 選手権 would bite off more than they could chew.
That moment （機の）カム in a quarterfinal against フラン on Sunday that exposed the 制限s of an Icelandic team that had 激しく揺するd football in the previous 一連の会議、交渉／完成する by 追い出すing England.

フラン now 直面するs Germany riding a wave of 信用／信任 that comes from 得点する／非難する／２０ing five goals in one match.
アイスランド goes home having 証明するd to everyone that a 広大な／多数の／重要な 取引，協定 can be done with very little.
Here are 5 things to know about フラン's 5-2 victory at the Stade de フラン.

ICELAND'S 4-4-2
アイスランド's 形式, with two lines of four and two strikers, is a throwback to the days of mullet haircuts. Very old school. And their rigid 固守 to that 4-4-2 形式 was their undoing against フラン.
展示（する） A: Olivier Giroud's 開始 goal after 12 minutes.
With a pass from the 支援する left of フラン's 4-2-3-1 形式, 持つ／拘留するing midfielder Blaise Matuidi 削減（する） out the whole of アイスランド's midfield and 弁護 with a pass that landed just behind the Icelandic 支援する four and into the path of Giroud, who'd been lurking in a gap between Ragnar Sigurdsson and Kari Arnason, both big defenders but hardly the fastest out of the 封鎖するs.
From there, it was 公正に／かなり straightforward for the 兵器庫 今後: a left-footed kick straight through the 脚s of アイスランド 'keeper Hannes Halldorsson.
More versatile teams might, at that point, have switched 形式s, perhaps got the 十分な 支援するs on the left and 権利 to 押し進める high up the field in search of an equalizer.
But 4-4-2 has been アイスランド's default through Euro 2016 and, against フラン and its 戦術の and technical 制限s became starkly 明らかな all too quickly.

POGBA DELIVERS
フラン had been waiting for a standout moment from Paul Pogba, its much coveted midfielder. It got it with a jump that （機の）カム out of the playbook of Michael Jordan, His Airness himself.
The tall (1.91 メーターs/6-foot-2) and strapping midfielder and アイスランド striker Jon Dadi Bodvarsson jumped together for a 宙返り飛行ing corner-kick that Antoine Griezmann landed in the danger zone in 前線 of Halldorsson, just out of reach of the アイスランド 'keeper but の近くに enough to be a 脅し.
The difference was that Bodvarsson wasn't moving and Pogba was. Pogba jumped a 長，率いる higher than his marker, and 力／強力にするd the ball into the 逮捕する with his 長，率いる for フラン's second goal after just 20 minutes.
Pogba played 深い in the 中心 of the French midfield, in a 配当 役割 that his former チーム仲間 at Juventus, Andrea Pirlo, made an art of. Pogba's pass from 深い that Giroud flicked on for Griezmann was the origin of フラン's fourth goal.
Pogba, although still just 23, is also taking on a leadership 役割. As the teams （機の）カム 支援する out for the second half, Pogba gave his チーム仲間s a vigorous talking to in the tunnel, seemingly exhorting them to not 残り／休憩（する） on the laurels of their 4-0 first-half lead.

DYNAMIC DUO:
フラン winger Dimitri Payet kissed one of Griezmann's boots after his goal. Really, he should have kissed Giroud's, too, because of the 必須の 役割 the striker has played in 許すing Griezmann to become 最高の，を越す scorer, for now, at Euro 2016, with four goals.
The 有効性 of their 共同 is built, in large 手段, on Giroud's selflessness. He seems as happy making 補助装置s for Griezmann as trying to 得点する／非難する／２０ himself. His onward flick of the ball in the 中心 of the field that led to Griezmann's goal was just one example of that.
Giroud's 高さ (1.92 メーターs; 6-feet-3) makes him a different sort of attacking 脅し to the shorter, more nimble Griezmann. Their complementarity showed in フラン's third goal: Giroud 長，率いるd 負かす／撃墜する Bacary Sagna's cross; Griezmann passed to it Payet, who 得点する／非難する／２０d.

ICELAND'S PARTY TRICK FAILS
フラン wasn't as naive as England.
In the 23rd minute, アイスランド wheeled out the party trick it used to such 広大な／多数の／重要な 影響 in its run to the 準々決勝: A 抱擁する 25-メーター throw-in by captain Aron Gunnarsson into the box, a チーム仲間 flicking the ball on with his 長，率いる and someone else getting a 脚 to it and コースを変えるing it into the 逮捕する.
This time, the 脚 was Bodvarsson's but his 成果／努力 went over フラン 'keeper Hugo Lloris' crossbar.
アイスランド tried the trick ― which worked in its 2-1 敗北・負かす of England in the previous 一連の会議、交渉／完成する ― again in the 30th minute and in the second half, but both times French defender Patrice Evra 長，率いるd the ball away.

BEST FANS
Fans from Ireland, Northern Ireland and むちの跡s have lit up Euro 2016 with their good humor and 十分な-血d support for their teams. But アイスランド's 支持者s have taken fandom to a whole other level.
Their lusty rendition of the song "Ferdalok" before the 敗北・負かす to フラン and again during it sent shivers 負かす／撃墜する the spine.
"Sun shimmers in the water, see the glacier glow, all is 有望な for the two of us, because I am 支援する home," they bellowed.
Liverpool should 招待する the アイスランド team for an 展示 match. Because 審理，公聴会 "Ferdalok" echo from one end of Anfield stadium and "You'll Never Walk Alone" from the other would be something.
