黒人／ボイコット 行動主義者s hope 殺人，大当りs 誘発する more 活動／戦闘 from whites
NEW YORK (AP) ― Since the birth of the 黒人／ボイコット Lives 事柄 movement three years ago, many white Americans have 格闘するd with how to 答える／応じる. Some chose 人種差別主義者-tinged ridicule. Others, by word or 行為, sought to show 団結 as 黒人／ボイコットs 抗議するd the deaths of fellow 黒人／ボイコットs in 遭遇（する）s with police. Still others, untouched 本人自身で, watched from a distance in silence.
This past week, as graphic ビデオs portrayed two more such deaths and five police officers were 殺害された at a march in Dallas 抗議するing the 殺人，大当りs, whites have joined 黒人／ボイコットs in 強烈な calls for まとまり that 削減（する） across color lines. Some see hope of a turning point from these 悲劇s, that this might be the 注目する，もくろむs-wide-open moment that moves white America from apathy or 悔恨 to 活動／戦闘 in 追跡 of racial 仲直り.
"I definitely think there's a change in the atmosphere," said Johnetta Elzie, a 黒人／ボイコット 行動主義者 from St. Louis who believes the events have galvanized more white people to 直面する 問題／発行するs that afflict 黒人／ボイコットs. "I hate the fact that it is this way, but with every police 暴力／激しさ 犠牲者 story that goes 国家の, more and more people wake up."

The 黒人／ボイコット Lives 事柄 movement began in 2013, 奮起させるd to a large degree by the 殺人，大当り the previous year of 17-year-old Trayvon ツバメ by a 近隣 watch volunteer in Florida. It soon grew into both a 国家の 戦う／戦い cry and 現象 after a 一連の 殺人，大当りs of 黒人／ボイコットs and other 少数，小数派s by police.
Over the course of the （選挙などの）運動をする, 黒人／ボイコット 行動主義者s have had mixed feelings about the 返答 from whites ― commending those who have supported the 成果／努力 yet decrying what they perceive as disinterest or 敵意 from a 大多数 of whites.
"Yes, White people are standing with us in 返答 to these 殺人，大当りs and we value that, but we need more Whites to 取り組む the systemic 人種差別主義 and 差別 that 黒人／ボイコットs are 支配するd to," San Francisco 行動主義者 Javarre Wilson said in an email 返答 to questions. "White people don't have to worry whether their child will be at the receiving end of a 警官，（賞などを）獲得する's baton or handgun. W 攻撃する，衝突する people don't have to worry about whether they will be pulled over in their cars and 積極性 悩ますd by 人種差別主義者 警官，（賞などを）獲得するs."
To be sure, whites, Latinos, Asians and others have joined 黒人／ボイコット Americans in decrying the 狙撃 deaths of Alton 英貨の／純銀の in Louisiana and Philando Castile in Minnesota, made all the more palpable because ビデオs 逮捕（する）ing the 出来事/事件s were 広範囲にわたって 株d for all to see on social マスコミ and across the Internet. The officers 伴う／関わるd were placed on leave and 調査s continue.
"My heart is in a million pieces," Rachel Hockett, a white theater director in Ithaca, New York, wrote in a Facebook 地位，任命する. "I can't even begin to imagine how it feels to be African-American in this country. But I certainly care, to my toes, and I know how I would feel if my son or daughter were gunned 負かす／撃墜する in this way."
"All #blacklivesmatter. 無条件に," Nellie Fitzpatrick, director of Philadelphia's Office of LGBT 事件／事情／状勢s, 宣言するd on her Facebook page.
But words are not enough, in the 見解（をとる） of many 黒人／ボイコット 行動主義者s. They argue that most whites have been too slow to speak out when 不正s occur and that, once they do, such 表現s rarely equate to meaningful change.
"It makes the 殺人，大当りs worse to know that your 不賛成 of them has spared your 評判s and not our lives," Michael Eric Dyson, a professor of sociology at Georgetown University, wrote in an op-ed in The New York Times after the deaths of 英貨の／純銀の and Castile. He 演説（する）／住所d his piece to "white America."
"You will never understand the helplessness we feel in watching these events 広げる, violently, time and again, as 不安定な images tell a story more sobering than your 注目する，もくろむs are willing to believe: that 黒人／ボイコット life can mean so little," Dyson wrote. "You do not know that afte r we get angry with you, we get even angrier with ourselves, because we don't know how to make you stop, or how to make you care enough to stop those who pull the 誘発する／引き起こすs."
Matthew Shaw, a 黒人／ボイコット 法律 and public 政策 分析家 at the American 妨げる／法廷，弁護士業 創立／基礎, said too many white Americans 欠如（する） empathy with 黒人／ボイコットs, and need to find ways to develop that.
"If you see someone 存在 発射 while sitting in a car with his family, and you don't have some empathy, you've got some work to do," he said in 言及／関連 to Castile's death. "Work on your friends, your family, people in your 近隣."
He 勧めるd whites to get active in （選挙などの）運動をするs to 改善する police practices and 促進する racial 司法（官）.
"暴力／激しさ is the worst 返答," he said. "Throwing your 手渡すs in the 空気／公表する and 説 nothing can be done is a の近くに second."
Some whites have indeed taken steps to build support for the 黒人／ボイコット Lives 事柄 movement の中で their fellow whites, and they say they are making 進歩.
Dara Silverman is the 国家の 調整者／コーディネーター of Showing Up for Racial 司法（官）, a 網状組織 開始する，打ち上げるd a year and a half ago. She said it has grown from a dozen 地元の groups to more than 150, 拡大するing the base of whites committed to fighting racial 不平等.
The 網状組織 encourages white 行動主義者s to 持つ／拘留する house parties and 行為／行う door-to-door canvassing in an 成果／努力 to attract more 支持者s. A 声明 問題／発行するd after the deaths of 英貨の／純銀の and Castile also 勧めるd direct 抗議する 活動／戦闘.
"Join us in the streets," it said. "Now is the time for white people to be 明白な, 勇敢な and relentless in our public 対立 to 人種差別主義 and the 明言する／公表する-許可／制裁d 殺人 of 黒人／ボイコット people."
Many white 政治家，政治屋s, 含むing 最高の，を越す Democratic and 共和国の／共和党の leaders, 控訴，上告d for 寛容 and まとまり in the 影響 of the deadly 出来事/事件s. Hillary Clinton, in an interview with CNN, called on white people "to put ourselves in the shoes of those African-American families who 恐れる every time their children go somewhere." House （衆議院の）議長 Paul Ryan implored Americans to "not lose sight of the values that 部隊 us, our ありふれた humanity."
There were 厳しい comments 同様に. Joe Walsh, a former Illinois 下院議員, tweeted in 返答 to the slayings of the officers in Dallas by a 黒人／ボイコット Army 退役軍人: "This is now war" and "Watch out 黒人／ボイコット lives 事柄 punks." Diana Bass, an author who 専攻するs in American 宗教 and culture, 勧めるd white people to speak out against 人種差別主義 ― even if seen in those closest to them.
"With the exception of my mother and her father, I knew no adult who ever said anything good about any 黒人／ボイコット person," she 解任するd of her childhood years in a Facebook 地位，任命する. "I 否認する their beliefs. "I don't know what to do anymore," he said. "I don't know how to believe change is possible when there is so much 証拠 to the contrary."
