Winnipeg Jets 始める，決める to 急に上がる with young Finn Patrik Laine
Last season was a mixed 捕らえる、獲得する for Winnipeg Jets general 経営者／支配人 Kevin Cheveldayoff.
Yes, the Jets were able to 草案 Patrik Laine with the second 全体にわたる 選ぶ in June, 上陸 a 可能性のある franchise-changing player. But it was a 哀れな ride to get there.
"The end result of the year to 草案 a player like that is exciting," Cheveldayoff said. "The 過程 of getting there is certainly agonizing. The 18-year-old Laine is coming off of a year in which he 得点する／非難する／２０d 17 goals and 33 points in 46 games for Tappara of the Finnish League. A 権利 winger, he has drawn comparisons to Alex Ovechkin of the Washington 資本／首都s and he held his own just 罰金 for Finland at the World Cup of ホッケー.
Unlike Ovechkin, who was essentially a one-man team in his 新人 year of 2005-06, Laine joins a Jets squad with 示す Scheifele, Blake Wheeler, Dustin Byfuglien, Bryan Little and Mathieu Perreault ― players who should 許す Laine time to develop without having the 責任／義務 of carrying the Jets on a nightly basis.
"There's a lot of value to that," Cheveldayoff said. "The different paths the players had. A guy like Blake Wheeler, who was a high 草案 選ぶ and (had) a lot of 期待s. Now he's at the pinnacle of his career with what he 遂行するd last year from an 不快な／攻撃 視野 and, 明白に, from a leadership 視野."
Some things to watch for this season from Winnipeg:
IN TROUBA
One of the hallmarks of Cheveldayoff's 任期 as GM has been his 備蓄（する）ing of young players. Now, he is 直面するd with parting with one. Through his スパイ／執行官, defenseman Jacob Trouba 公然と requested a 貿易（する） during training （軍の）野営地，陣営. Trouba, 22, had six goals and 15 補助装置s in 81 games last season, although the 権利-手渡すd shooter was often put on the left 味方する in his pairing.
GOAL DRIVEN
Ondrej Pavelec, Connor Hellebuyck and Michael Hutchinson all saw 重要な time in goal for the Jets last season. Pavelec 収集するd a 2.78 goals-against 普通の／平均（する） and .904 save 百分率 in 33 games. Hellebuyck 記録，記録的な／記録するd 2.34 GAA and .918 save 百分率 in 26 games, while Hutchinson had a 2.84 GAA and a .907 save 百分率. So is the No. 1 職業 up for 得る，とらえるs? Cheveldayoff said he is looking for someone to step up.
SPECIAL TEAMS
One of the 推論する／理由s the Jets dropped 21 points in the standings last season was the poor play of their specialty 部隊s. Winnipeg had the league's worst 力／強力にする play and the 25th 階級d 刑罰，罰則 kill. Were the problems schematic or 死刑執行?
"If you ask (長，率いる coach) Paul (Maurice) how his summer was, I'm sure a lot of it was spent in the computer looking at different things with regards to those type of 状況／情勢s," Cheveldayoff said.
MAKING HIS MARK
One of the 有望な 位置／汚点／見つけ出すs for the Jets in 2015-16 was the play of 示す Scheifele. The seventh 全体にわたる 選ぶ in the 2011 草案 played in 71 games and finished with 29 goals and 32 補助装置s for 61 points. The Jets 所有する a formidable 最高の，を越す line with Scheifele in the middle and Wheeler on 右翼.
WHEELING AND DEALING
Wheeler, the 6-foot-5, 225-続けざまに猛撃する 右翼 for the Jets, finished last season with 26 goals and 78 points in 82 games, which helped the 30-year-old make Team USA for the World Cup of ホッケー.
